Cardiovascular effects of melatonin in hypertensive patients well controlled by nifedipine: a 24-hour study

The results obtained in the present study show that the chronic evening ingestion of melatonin in hypertensive patients well controlled by nifedipine GITS induces a blood pressure increase and a heart rate acceleration.

Conclusions

We hypothesize that competition between melatonin and nifedipine, is able to impair the antihypertensive efficacy of the calcium channel blocker. This suggests caution in uncontrolled use of melatonin in hypertensive patients. As the pineal hormone might interfere with calcium channel blocker therapy, it cannot be considered simply a dietary supplement.

What do you think Vince? I am going to cut my use back as much as possible.
For me at least melatonin does not increase by blood pressure or heart rate. I believe it actually does the opposite. I'm continuing my 100 mg Plus of melatonin daily. Just have Labs done today. Both my testosterone panel and my Cleveland heart lab panel. Hopefully both are good.
