Hi there

I am 36 yr old man I have been diagnosed with Low Testosterone and after evaluating for over a year my Endocrinologist prescribed me Reandron 1000 I believe it is testosterone undeconate. Do you know much about this Ester. I tried google search but didn't get any luck. I also could not register myself on your website forums initially as it is disabled.

The reason why I am asking this is I am weighing good with bad before I start TRT, I know its my endocrinologist job but this is my life. I train 4-5 times per week. Feeling fatigued, low libido, hard time getting muscle recovery after weight training session. My last levels were 311 for total testosterone.

For some reason he prescribe me Testosterone undeconate with no AI or HCG with it, he simply said we don't wanna increase testosterone above reference levels anyway. however he did also ordered blood tests for PSA, Hematocrit and estrogen upon my request along with testosterone, shbg, free t etc after 6 weeks of administring of test undeconate.

I am just looking for some more data on Test undeconate I.M and its effectiveness.

My Latest Lab Results were,

FSH 4.5 Ref 1.5-9.7 IU/L
LH 2.5 Ref 1.8-9.2 IU/L
Total T 10.8 Ref 9.9-27.8 nmol/L (BTW its 312 ng/dl)
SHBG 19 Ref 17-56 nmol/L
Free Test 296 Ref 170-670 pmol/L

Cheers
Sunny

Your LH/FSH suggest HCG or Clomid may be worth looking into, as it sounds like you're hesitant about starting the lifelong journey of TRT. Research those 2 drugs, talk with your doc and make the right decision. It may be worth trying those first, assuming you're secondary, which it looks like you might be. Total & free T don't look super bad, but can certainly be better.

Yeah mate I am really not keen on TRT, the reason being I do go to gym 3-5 times a week already and I don't have deperession or anything, but the symptoms I have though are, Irritability, Muscle recovery after weight training session, losing muscle mass while on days off from training so I gotta start back up again, my muscle wait fluctuate anywhere from 1 kg to 3 kg between training days and days off I also notice when that happens is loss of strength, Libido is out for 2 weeks after sex lol then it slowly recharge and I get feelings back, Hot flash etc So in other words I could never actually maintain my muscle mass.

The reason I still have muscle is because of my training which I have been doing for 10 yrs+ and I don't see myself stopping ever. So I do have symptoms but If i didn't do any of the exercise program and eat crap I would be in big trouble more so than now.

There is also a research done recently where it clearly implied people with low testosterone have high gleason score if they were to get prostate cancer etc. It also said people with normal T have a very good chance of survival than those in high t and low t. Because prostate tissue itself is susceptible to change when there is low serum testosterone. I will link the study here once I find it as I have been collecting all the info for a while.

We also know TRT is contraindication to pCA( pros cancer) and breast cancer so they both needs to be rules out before people put on TRT.

As you can probably see I am quite a bit concerned and really educated myself on this topic.

Cheers
P.S I asked my Endocrinologist can I try HCG injection so maybe it can help me as it is a secondary hypogonadism, he then said he never done HCG so I left it there.

Testosterone undecanoate is a very good long acting ester.

You are afraid about prostate cancer. It would be nice to see your PSA and digital rectal exam results. TRT does not cause prostate cancer although it could fuel it if present.

Hi Nelson

Thanks for the reply. My PSA is 0.5 or thereabouts Ref range 0-4. Also had Renal doppler done which measure size of prostate, bladder, kidneys etc it was all within range. I had DRE done long time ago not recently doctor at the time said it was ok but his clinical skills I am unsure of as he was a general practitioner only.

You think its a good idea to get DRE from Urologist? Even when PSA is 0.5 ?

I can I guess as it can give me peace of mind. Appreciate your help.

Cheers

If you're at all concerned with your prostate, a DRE should help give you peace of mind. I'd guess a PSA of 0.5 is a pretty good indication you probably don't have PC. My testosterone doc actually made me get a DRE by a urologist prior to TRT. Not sure why since my PA was also .4 or .5. It's crazy how many doc's think TRT increases your chances of PC.

Ya I think I should opt in to get DRE. Also TRT is a contraindication for PCa and Breast cancer thats probably why most physicians choose to do it. I guess duty of care to the patient.

A doppler test is a great way to see if your prostate is enlarged. Yours obviously was not. Your PSA is good.

I would stop worrying.
