Having said that, you are NOT yet at steady state. Also, testosterone levels do not necessarily clear at a linear rate, and can be entirely individual.
Here are levels of test after 1 injection of 1000mg, then levels after the 13th injection of 1000mg, See the differences?View attachment 2885
See also how it's NOT linear?
I can say that after 2 years on Nebido, my TT was 635 ng/dl and after 3 years my TT was 902 and free test was 27.9 pg/nl (5-21 range). (I usually felt good on Nebido, but I don't have many labs to say what was really going on.)
I felt the free test of 27.9 was too high, as sexually I felt like I was 19, not exactly what i wanted at age 63.
I first started to feel typical effects of low test when I was 40 back in 1992, but I didn’t realize what was wrong. I went to a doctor to run tests, and my relevant tests all came back within normal ranges, abet the testosterone was on the low side. The doctors at the time only did typical CBC, MET panel, thyroid test and the TT test. I did request a DHEA test, but that was because I was supplementing DHEA and wanted to see how if was affecting my blood levels.
DHEA, another story.
I took Nebido for roughly 5 years starting in late 2009. I started in Bangkok, they didn’t require any hormone labs, they did want a PSA test and a EKG test before starting. It was an impulsive action on my part, I didn’t have any intention of getting TRT, never heard of Nebido, and being in Bangkok was itself totally unplanned.
After the first 2 weeks of Nebido, I felt a real surge of energy and libido, and in the next 4 months lost 35 lbs., from 190 down to 155 lbs. I am 5.4. Like one would expect and many have reported, I was firing on all cylinders.
My likely total testosterone before Nebido would have been around 380 NG/DL, I would make a large bet TT was between 320-400 ng/dl. I base this on the only total testosterone test I had done 4 years before in 1996 I measured 376 ng/dl (270-1070 range) . Also, on more frequent tests I have done since 2012 both while on Nebido and when I stopped using it.
I had stopped taking Nebido in early 2015, we were thinking of having children.
So, I also have experience with Clomid, which I took 50 mg daily for 3 months back in 2015 to boost my sperm count, it worked at what I wanted. It did boost sperm counts, my TT from 326 > 478, and free Test from 4.7 > 7.7 pg/ml, but it’s nothing like taking a testosterone ester. Meaning it’s no substitute for what most men want out of TRT.
I didn’t run any hormone labs the first 3 years of Nebido, or for that matter, any blood work at all. Nor did I see a doctor outside occasionally the doctor in Thailand. Most of that time I ordered Nebido via mail using a written prescription and self-injected.
I hadn’t had any health insurance since 1999 till about 2015, so I only saw a doctor if I determined I needed an antibiotic. Plus, in Thailand you can buy antibiotics at a large drug store with no prescription. But I live in the USA, so I can’t just hop a plane to Thailand just to get an antibiotic.
Since discovering I could order my own blood tests, I had been doing that since 2012. I had been getting lipid testing done for $20 or free, just depending on what came up.
So I do have some labs going back to 1992, and a lot more complete labs since 2012.
My experience has totally sold me on TRT. The only testosterone I have ever used is Nebido, and right now I am looking to get back on some product.
Currently I have Medicare for insurance, but it appears that won’t help me pay for TRT. Too bad, but you know, I have 15 years of experience with no health insurance at all and really no family doctor.
My preference is Nebido, and this time I am going to take HCG. My Estradiol has never been high, but who really knows for sure, since I never measured before 2015. Since then I can say my estradiol has never been high.
Nebido is not easy to import, it’s possible but not easy. Aweed is too expensive unless insurance pays for it, and I don’t’ like Endo the company. However, if it’s too difficult to get Nebido I will go the testosterone cypionate route.
I did recently go to a urologist, but he didn’t’ want to treat since my TT is 390 ng/dl. I really have little experience in talking to doctors about TRT, but I already get the feeling it’s a lost cause. Outside of a testosterone clinic. If I want to pay $200 a month or more, then no problems.
So, I have contacted Defy Medical. They seem reasonable.
Congrats to Nelson Vergel and staff, nice website, you have a wealth of information here, you have done a good job of putting it all together.
