Vince as well as others
you guys mention thyroid frequently especially Vince.
1) what symptom did you notice most regarding your hypothyroid? What led you to think you had an issue other than blood work?
2) what did you notice most AFTER starting thyroid meds and how long did it take to see an actual positive effect?
3) any side effects?
4) can taking thyroid raise T levels at all?
Im starting to wonder if i have thyroid issues.

From everything that I have been recently reading low testosterone and hypothyroidism both have similar symptoms. Also from what I've been reading hypothyroidism can contribute to lower testosterone levels, bad sperm quality, brain fog and another thing hypothyroidism will give you worse LDL cholesterol numbers. I actually been trying to get help with my thyroid for over 5 years, it has been a struggle and I have been able to get armor. Now that healthy thyroids are starting to become more mainstream in medicine. It makes me wonder if I would have just been able to take care of my thyroid if I would have even needed TRT.

One thing you don't want to do is turn your hypothyroidism into hyper by over supplementing with T3.

A couple positive things I have noticed since starting with T3, better workouts, better sperm, more energy throughout the whole day. I do check my blood pressure every morning my blood pressure is still very low, T3 has not raised it so far. But I do have increase in pulse rate, but it has been staying pretty much in a 60 to 70 range.

Were you feeling fatigued prior to thyroid meds?
were any of your thyroid tets abnormal? I dont mean not optimal, but abnormal on a blood test?

here are my blood results for my thyroid.. Any opinions ?
Tsh - 2.01 ( range .40- 4.5 )
T4 - 7.0. ( range 4.5- 12.0 )
T3 uptake - 30 ( range 22 - 35 )
Free T4 - 2.1 ( range 1.4 - 3.8 )

Here's a copy of my last thyroid labs.

TSH 1.800 range 0.400-4.500
FT4 1.1 range 0.7-1.8
FT3 1.9 range 2.0-4.4

I was taking Synthroid 50 mcg and Armour 90 mg. The main reason I wanted better levels was to improve my lipid panel. Strong coronary artery disease runs in my family and I'm always looking for better way to fight this disease.

Everything else has been a added benefit, I'm having new thyroid and T labs next Tuesday. I'm currently taking Synthroid 50 mcg and liothyronine (Cytomel) 25 mcg. My new thyroid labs will include reverse T3.

Were you feeling sluggish at all?
is your free T4 considered too low based on your labs?
what do you think of my labs?

Vince - does taking an additional does of t3 in the afternoon mess with you’re sleep in any way ? Or had taking t3 actually improved you’re sleep ??

Since I've started my new thyroid protocol, I feel that I'm at the top of my game, with work, workouts and after work energy. But of course I do not know what my new Labs look like, will have them next week Tuesday. I'm not the best at analyzing thyroid labs but because of your low free T4 I definitely would get a complete thyroid panel with reverse T3. I bet you would feel a lot better with your levels in a good range.

I only take my thyroid meds early morning half an hour before food or drink. I know some members take T3 twice a day but I do not. I'm hoping it's not necessary. My sleep has not improved with my new thyroid protocol, I usually sleep 6 to 7 hours a night. I'm hoping as I get more dialed in with my thyroid, my sleep will also improve.

I am going to start taking T3 once a day at 5 mcg at first. When you take you're thyroid in the morning does it give you a type of energy like coffee does or is it more of a "non-stimulant" type of energy?

Yeah that's a real good question, I would say non stimulants energy. I think I would explain it as youthful energy.

Feeling over caffeinated without caffeine intake is a sign of hyperthyroid.

I was warned about this by Defy starting my NDT. I experienced this when I started NDT for a couple days and again when we increased dose, however the effect faded and didn't come back.

Now that I have been on 1gr NDT every morning since October, same kind of protocol as Vince 1/2 hour before food or drink, by my last blood work, T3 was a little high fasting a few hours after my dose, and T4 is running quite low. This is consistent with taking NDT since it has a higher proportion of T3. As time goes on, I have been getting tired more often in the afternoon. I suspect I am burning through the T3 before the day is done.

Blackhawk, when you do your labs for your thyroid. Do you do it just like your testosterone labs? Do you skip your morning dose do labs and then take your thyroid meds after blood draw. That's how I did it when I was taking Armour, and that's how I'm planning to do it but I have my next tyroid Lab.

Even though I'm feeling very good with my thyroid protocol, I feel I probably will be increasing my dose.

I know a couple of men who were taking synthetic T3 and got hyper symptoms, their heart started to race.

I have read that Tachycardia can be from too much T3 or not enough Cortisol to support the T3 dose. When there is not enough Cortisol your Adrenaline goes up causing the increased rate and BP. For some your BP will fall after the T3 dose then it will go back up. I would guess that is from Cortisol level falling then Adrenaline kicks in making BP go back up.

Defy's pre lab instructions are to take your thyroid the morning before your blood draw. So yes, I take my thyroid the morning of my blood draws as instructed.

What you have been doing is contrary to these instructions.

Dr Saya takes into account the timing of your morning dose in relation to when you had your blood drawn, fasting etc in order to assess what's happening.

Would you say all the symptoms between the two are the exact same ? If you had to differentiate between the two for different symptoms would there be any?

The symptoms are complete opposite, hypo slows you down, low heart rate tired all the time. Hpyer you don't need to sleep much, your heart races and you have other symptoms like losing your hair. I wouldn't want neither but I am hypo.

Sorry Vince I was not specific enough in my post. I meant the symptoms between low testosterone and low thyroid.im really trying to figure which one is causing my symptoms.

From what I read the symptoms between low testosterone and hypothyroidism can be exactly alike for some people. I think if I had to choose between the two I would rather have low testosterone because I believe it's easier to treat. But then you don't have to inject your thyroid meds, so who really knows. Try to find qualified doctor for either can be super hard.
