Testosterone is no joke. It's an extremely powerful tool for female to male transgender people. I believe it even provides the benefit of virilizing the bone structure, a utility which male to female transgender people unfortunately don't have at their disposal. As far as I know, there is no non-surgical means to feminize the bone structure in the latter group.

I have a niece coping with this. She currently identifying as a male, but has not started any hormone therapy yet. She is only 14 though. Parents want her to wait until 18 yrs old. It is good to see that if she chooses to take that step that a positive outcome is possible. Interesting subject to say the least.
