In my own quest for a proper diagnosis for low T I went through a clinic that didn't wise me up to the nature of my hypogonadism or about my options for treatment. In addressing my low levels they put me on T shots straight away and I was all too happy to jump into it in my desperation.

I've since suspected my brother has low T as well. He just got his labs back and his T values confirm this. As I've stated, I wouldn't know what to look for in determining the nature of his low T or what other factors might be at play.

I know he will be apprehensive about treatment so I will likely be disclosing my own diagnosis to him along with the nature of my treatment in the coming days. I'm keen to get him linked up with Defy. In the meantime I would like to be able to offer something in the way of alleviating some of his concerns.

If you guys could offer insight/guidance as to his lab results I'd really appreciate it.

How old is your brother, what other medications/supplements is he taking? His symptoms? His lifestyle? There are certainly red lights blinking here, hormonal and otherwise.

He's 32, non-smoker, doesn't drink, and not presently on any meds. He can't seem to shed weight, which has now been steadily climbing since he gave up on it. He's fairly sedentary now, having previously worked in a physically demanding job for a decade.
He was quite overweight even then but not to the extent he is now. He's only described fatigue, sluggishness, and a lack of energy to me.

I've called defy with an eye towards setting up a consult. He can be more open with them I'm sure. We've talked about him making a serious commitment to improving his health. I believe this has played a part in lackluster results from previous efforts.

Green Arrow:
Please tell your brother it is about quality of life as we age. My low T and high SHBG, imo is hereditary. My Dad died at 72 of colon cancer along with older cousin and uncles of same thing. Their quality of life last 2-3 years was awful. All my Aunts on my Dad's side lived to be in their 90's!!! After I discovered I had low T, had both my older brothers test theirs and they are low as well. So it is obvious from my perspective this is a genetic thing and a good solid T replacement program with a knowledgeable MD like Defy can head off serious and deadly health problems in later
years.

I'm not sure what you're looking for. His testosterone is astonishingly low, his prolactin high (that in and of itself is probably making him feel miserable), his lipids are higher than anyone would like to see. He needs to consult with a doctor who can address all of these issues and, as was noted, help him work toward a quality of life that he can appreciate. Yes, he has problems. A good doctor is the first step. All the best.

As you know, he definitely has low testosterone. He must have a terrible diet. Lifestyle Changes definitely would help, like a clean diet and exercising. The biggest factor is motivation.
