I've been on trt for 7 months now and my results are quiet good. My muscle mass has increased, and my mood has improved. My issue is that my libido hasn't improoved as much as I would like. I have noctural erections every night and on the weekends, when I see my girlfriend, I am able to have sex multiple times per day. Still my desire to have sex is not where I would like it to be and I don't have any spontaneous erections during the day. I talked to my doc (endo) about this and she told me that it might be a dopamine issue. She told my to see a psychiatrist and ask for a bupropion perscription. I did my reasearch and I got mixed results. Has anybody tried it and care to share his experience? Any information will be greatly appreciated.
I am on 140mg of test per week split into two injections and I take 1 mg arimidex per week

That is a significant Anastrozole dose; what is your estradiol level (I presume you are in the US and have access to the sensitive E2 test, LC, MS/MS). Estradiol either too high or too low can impact sexuality. Is your prolactin where it should be?

I am not in the US , last time I checked my levels I was at 81 (20-71) while on 180 mg of test and no AI. I lowered the dose and started the arimidex. My prolactin was at mid low levels

I had prescription Buproprion for libido way back around 4 years ago. The only thing it did was make me feel anxious. No help whatsoever with libido.

Tried it last year. Helped for a few weeks and then stopped. This is not uncommon with bupropion. Not sure if cycling it would be a valid approach.

Thanks for the answer.Have you tried anything similar after that? Is it possible that my problem is dopamine related since I have noctural erections?

I would be curious to see if anyone ever had an improvement in libido by adjusting dopamine via any means. I understand the theory of why it should work, but I am very curious to see if anyone ever actually has had it work, or work for more than a short-term improvement.

I tried Welbutrin after that and had the exact same thing happen. It caused anxiety (even though it is supposed to be an anti-anxiety drug) and no help whatsoever with libido. I gave it 6 weeks and stopped, but it was hard to hold out that even long with the anxiety.

Ropinirole can do this for a while, especially at higher doses, of course it can come with nasty sides at those doses as well.

I believe marijuana has had this effect on me in the past. I know most things I've read say that marijuana can cause ED. But I've experience the exact opposite multiple times.

Would you characterize that as wanting the physical urge to go along with your interest? That physical horny feeling.

Libido can be a rollercoaster. I'm having a good week after low libido for some time.

ERO: Welbutrin I was told is more sided to depression and if the person has any anxiety it can raise it.

I can tell you that when my libido is good I am always also in better mood and relaxed, dont know which comes first.

Yeah, nothing I have tried over the last 5 years has helped me get any libido out of TRT. I literally had better libido when I had Low T before I began treatment.

This is why I am curious if any of these Dopamine-oriented drugs have actually worked for anybody. All the reports you read it is basically an accidental side-effect that some small percentage of users experience while on the drug as opposed to any sort of repeatable or highly probable effect.

I don't believe it is actually accidental, I think that sometimes anxiety or depression stress whatever is causing it and when that gets treated without inducing negative side effects, libido can come back.
What happens if you go off trt for a while and then back on, ever try it?
