Hey all,

I'm a 54m that lives in the UK and thought it's not too late to try to take control of my health so here I am. I've been doing some research about TRT and last week asked my GP to do a testosterone blood test, now I have some questions and I found this place.

Looking forward to doing some reading and learning along the way!

Have some fun,

Dave

Welcome to ExcelMale @wisedave

A total testosterone value is practically meaningless on its own. Make sure your GP is checking the free testosterone and SHBG as well, otherwise you’re wasting your time. To make matters worse, the cut off point to be considered for TRT are arbitrarily set and not based on actual medical science.

The UK or NHS is one of the worst places to get treatment for low testosterone. It is for this reason the majority of men get treatment through Balance My Hormones, or The Men’s Health Clinic.

Understanding Your Hormones

Estradiol (E2)

A form of estrogen produced from testosterone. Important for bone health, mood, and libido. Too high can cause side effects; too low can affect well-being.

DHT

Dihydrotestosterone is a potent androgen derived from testosterone. Affects hair growth, prostate health, and masculinization effects.

Free Testosterone

The biologically active form of testosterone not bound to proteins. Directly available for cellular uptake and biological effects.
