New Research Confirms We Got Cholesterol All Wrong

The closer your HDL and TRIG are to 1:1, the better. Your ratio is 1:2.375. This is currently considered an area of concern.

I'm still struggling with getting my ratio down, also. I'm about 1:1.4 and that took me about a year to get to. For some of us, getting the HDL up is difficult, no matter what we eat.

If you don't use advanced cholesterol testing, I was always told the old 60, 60, 60 rule is best. HDL above 60, LDL below 60, and triglycerides below 60. You should be able to do this with a good healthy low carb lifestyle.

I posted this in a wrong thread so I put it here. Reg statins I´m also confused about its effectivness to prevent card diseases. I mean the vast majority of docs and specialists do prescribe statins and I can´t imagine that they are only pill pusher. If the evidens showing, that statins are to no use or only has little benefits were more convincing, would statins still be prescribed? Of coarse it must be very hard for a doc to admit that he has been wrong about prescribing something that wasn´t to any help.

I was always told that Statins do not stop the growth of artery plaque, but it does help stabilize plaque. Which helps prevent heart attacks, so if someone has plaque in the arteries then there are benefits.
