FYI: My Dr. recommends LEF's AMPK Activator supplement for those that cannot tolerate Metformin. I am not on either so can't comment, but might be another option to look into.

Nathan Pritikin founded an institute based on his beliefs about a diet that was high in natural foods and very low in fat. This diet is similar to the diet that Dr. Dean Ornish advocates today. High blood pressure, high cholesterol, and type 2 diabetes are caused by poor diet and lack of exercise and should be treated by a high fiber diet of unrefined grains, vegetables and fruits, as in the McDougall Program.

I had to start seeing a cardiologist at DeBakey in Houston. My doctor suggested that I start on a ketogenic diet. I don't have high cholesterol of any form of diabetes, just high systolic blood pressure. Exercise, I have done that all my life. I get over 500 minutes of high intensity exercise every week. My have not gone keto but I eat high protein, 20% fat, and cycle my carbs weekly.
