I’ve been on trt for almost 3 yrs. my levels have been great and felt super . But about a month ago I started having a problem sleeping , which is unusual for me. I’m 50 yrs old . I just got part of my Boston bloodwork back through a patient portal and it showed my Pregnenolone level was 14 ng/ dl. I’m not currently back filling any upstream hormones . I’ve not met with dr yet but thought of taking a low dose of Pregnenolone,25 mg. Comments.... go! Thanks

Pregnenolone is a poor test, innaccurate, and is expensive (if that part matters to your situation), no one tests Preg because of it and uses Progesterone instead as it's one step down from Preg and will give a more accurate result and a fair guess of Preg levels. If you're dosing 25mg a day you can rest assured that you have more than enough and your poor test result reflects the general poor test itself.

What Vince Carter and others on these pages have to say is likely more worthy of your consideration than the above links which are nevertheless interesting.

Understanding Your Hormones

Estradiol (E2)

A form of estrogen produced from testosterone. Important for bone health, mood, and libido. Too high can cause side effects; too low can affect well-being.

DHT

Free Testosterone

The biologically active form of testosterone not bound to proteins. Directly available for cellular uptake and biological effects.
