I have always been a hardgainer in the gym and your typical skinny fat guy. In 2011 it got to the point where I even had to go to the DR to check my test levels because after 8 months of a starting strength variant program where I bulked up 20 lbs, I realized i had mainly just gained fat and made very minimal progress to my weights (I could post the results but trust me when I say it was minimal visually and not a ton of weight added ex. less than 3 plates on my deadlift etc).
2011:
TSH: .55 miUL (.40-4.5)
Estradiol: 39pg (12-45)
LH 7.3
Test Total: 756 (200-800)
Jump ahead to 2013 and I was having massive depression and anxiety problems. They again took my testosterone and my vitamin D. It turns out I had a massive deficiency of it and promptly got back to at least tolerable levels. It made all the difference, wonder why my body sucks it up so much and how much I should be taking now.
2013/2014:
Vitamin D 2013: 15.5 ng/mL (30-80) LOW
Vitamin D 2014 (6 months later): 33 ng/mL (30-80)
Testosterone Total: 833ng/dL (240-950)
Free Test: 17ng/dL (9-30)
In 2018 I had moved cities and at my DR I had asked he check my Test levels for fun. If it matters, I was having a borderline panic attack at the time of the test which I always wondered if it fucked up the results of anything.
TSH 0.67 (0.40-4.50 (mIU/L))
PHOSPHATE: 4.4 (2.5-4.5 (mg/dL))
VITAMIN D: 37 (30-100 (ng/mL))
THYROID PEROXIDASE AB: <1 (<9 (IU/mL))
THYROGLOBULIN ANTIBODIES: <1 (< OR = 1 (IU/mL))
VITAMIN B12: 449 (200-1100 (pg/mL))
MAGNESIUM: 2.0 (1.5-2.5 (mg/dL))
**ALBUMIN: 5.4 H (3.6-5.1 (g/dL)) H**
PROLACTIN: 7.9 (2.0-18.0 (ng/mL))
T4,FREE: 1.6 (0.8-1.8 (ng/dL))
**TESTOSTERONE,TOT,LC/MS/MS: 215 (250-1100 (ng/dL)) L**
**TESTOSTERONE,FREE: 12.9 (35.0-155.0 (pg/mL)) L**
Got them checked a few weeks later and this was the result
FERRITIN: 112 (20-345 (ng/mL))
IRON,TOTAL: 148 (50-195 (mcg/dL))
IRON BINDING CAPACITY: 319 (250-425 (mcg/dL (calc))
% SATURATION: 46 (15-60 (%))
FSH: 6.61 (.6-8.0 (mIU/mL))
TESTOSTERONE,TOT,LC/MS/MS: 627 (250-1100 (ng/dL))
TESTOSTERONE,FREE: 60.8 (35.0-155.0 (pg/mL))
ESTROGEN, TOTAL, SERUM: 99.1 (60-190 (pg/mL))
LH: 2.91 (.5-9.3 (mIU/mL))
Got my levels checked about two months later (End of July/Early August) to follow up.
TESTOSTERONE,TOT,LC/MS/MS: 1005 (250-1100 ng/dL)
TESTOSTERONE,FREE: 95.5 (35-155 pg/mL)
Again, things seem to be on up, even a high level here. Seems like things are still leveling up.
Got checked last week along with a few new ones and here are my final tests:
DIHYDROTESTOSTERON,LCMSMS: 61 (16-79 (ng/dL))
TESTOSTERONE,TOT,LC/MS/MS: 856 (250-1100 ng/dL)
TESTOSTERONE,FREE: 71 (35-155 pg/mL)
ESTRADIOL: 19 (< OR = 39 pg/mL)
**SHBG: 67 (10-50 nmol/L) HIGH**
So... As someone with a lot of health anxiety I have been pretty concerned since I got the results. I do not want to jump onto TRT if I can help it and I am not sure if these tests are indicative of that. The free test seems slightly low due to SHBG but They still seem well in range? I don't even know what other tests to get or how long I have had high SHGB. The dr wanted to do a followup on the thyroid/TSH levels. Does everything else look alright? Confusing when some of the old labs use different ranges. Not having many symptoms other than my lifelong hypochondriac anxieties and OCD from the results lol.
Thoughts?
