Exemestane and IGF-1

Can anyone comment on whether there are connections between IGF-1 levels and use of exemestane/Aromasin? I’ve seen conflicting reports on the way that different AIs affect IGF-1, and I’m especially curious if anyone can share both anecdotal and research-based info on how Aromasin may affect IGF-1. The conflicting reports are that many forum posts say that exemestane raises IGF-1, while others have said that it lowers it. To confound things, on another forum I’ve seen comments that Arimidex lowers IGF-1 while Aromasin raises it. I’d be grateful for any feedback, guidance, etc.

Many thanks!

Im 2.5 weeks on Exemestane, 12.5 E3.5D and now 12.5mg EOD and can't comment on IGF-1 levels but I got a glimmer of something the last few nights indicating possible IGF elevation but it's hard to say and I'll reserve comment until later.

Interesting. You have me very curious. I found the following study that was in women with breast cancer. Looks like a 35% increase in IGF-1 with Aromasin. Granted it was a 2-drug study but after doing some digging, it doesn't seem like Fulvestrant (the other drug in this study) has an impact on IGF-1 levels, so it seems exemestane was responsible.

Just to circle back on this, I got the results of my oral glucose tolerance test today. Completely normal at all time intervals on the test, with a fully-suppressed GH level. So whatever the cause of my elevated IGF-1, it doesn't seem to be a pituitary tumor secreting growth hormone. My body detects the rise in glucose levels and is able to both produce and respond to insulin and drop the levels of GH. The mystery deepens!

Any recent updates here? I am curious. I have elevated IGF-1. Had a clear pituitary MRI but and wondering if it is my high T and E2 levels or use of AI that may be contributing?

What I was alluding to above was that I *think* I get some IGF-1 response because I experience, at night in bed primarily, some tingling and numbness in my hands, carpal tunnel like symptoms. This is nearly the exact same symptoms I had when I was dabbling in the secretagogues CJC1295/Ghrp2/Grhp6...it was pretty bad and prompted me to stop using those and the symptom largely went away. But I still get the similar carpal tunnel so I kind of link it all together whether its true or not. My Dr had theorized an IGF increase.

I don't think it's related to my Exemestane use.
