Irritable man syndrome (IMS), sometimes called “the old man syndrome” is defined as a state of anxiety, anger, low level of tolerance, short temper, irritability, lack of libido, and infertility. These symptoms take place in elderly men as a result of aging–related biochemical changes, hormonal fluctuation, and stress. IMS symptoms are believed to be due to decreasing testosterone levels in old male mammals.
