Anti estrogen.

Hi guys......just about to start with testo gel....will I need to run any AI's with it just in case...
Its been a long drawn out saga to get to this stage with my local docs not having a clue about these things ended up seeing a Harley street specialist who ran a rake of tests ....spent big dollars but I got there in the end.
This is where I'm at....apparently because I have been taking DHEA for 6 years the Prof is convinced this has shut me down....even though there is no research to back up his theory....allegedly this guy knows his stuff...rakes of letters after his name........and he is pros androgen therapy here in the UK.
Been off DHEA for 8 weeks and just had bloods done today...so I guess this should prove it one way or the other..........I will be gobsmacked if my numbers have improved.
Once I have the numbers back I then kick of with my meds.........
Then hopefully the meds will get my levels back up to a healthy set of numbers so I can then set about reaching my objective and that is to lean out, tone up and build whatever muscle is humanly possible for a guy of my age and with my mileage on the clock.
I have asked the docs to do my blood again in 12 weeks.......but they gave me funny looks when I suggested I may need an ai to run with the gel....might have to go private again with this if my regular doc wont let me have them done...............
As all older guys know.........we cant afford to waste 1 workout....every one has to be a winner to keep us movin towards our goal........... (:

Any feed back would be greatly appreciated....cheers guys.. Davet

Thanks for that Vince....but I live here in the UK.

Think I am there now, just waiting for my last set of numbers so I will be able to see where I am.
Doc has now prescribed me test so I will see how I get on with the gel and assess once I get some more bloods done.

Cheers Davet

Davet-

No need to ever take an AI 'just in case'. That is a bodybuilder/AAS mentality that makes more sense when testosterone is abused rather than administered clinically.

We have learned over the years that estrogen is very important for men and needs to be within a range. Much like testosterone is an important hormone for women. There are different schools of thought within the HRT specialty, but most doctors I have worked with target estradiol in men between 25pg-45pg give or take. Unless you metabolize the gel inconsistently or are sensitive, you should not have any issues with E2 while taking a therapeutic dose of T gel

As for the DHEA, I have not seen evidence that taking DHEA long term will have any negative feedback on testosterone. DHEA is produced in the adrenals and can convert to different sex hormones including testosterone. It would have to convert to a very high amount of T to cause negative feedback. Normal doses of DHEA are not high enough to convert to that much T in men, in addition if working properly your body would not convert it to T if testosterone was already elevated. I get the prof. thought process but in practicality its not accurate

Thanks for the reply Jasen...as I thought with the DEAH ...the theory stacks up but the amount converted, if any wouldn't cause shut down.
I have just started my course and have got more bloods in 12 weeks.....should get better picture of where I am then.

Any AI use should only be backed by E2 testing and then only if you're experiencing a negative symptom of high estrogen, like nipple issues. There's another member here from the UK that you may be able to network with. Atleast one that I can think of; craig weston.

Understanding Your Hormones

Estradiol (E2)

A form of estrogen produced from testosterone. Important for bone health, mood, and libido. Too high can cause side effects; too low can affect well-being.

DHT

Dihydrotestosterone is a potent androgen derived from testosterone. Affects hair growth, prostate health, and masculinization effects.

Free Testosterone

The biologically active form of testosterone not bound to proteins. Directly available for cellular uptake and biological effects.
