So I have decided to quit my AI. It seems every time after I take it, I go into a deep dark depression. I can’t get out of bed, libido obviously none existent. It’s weird because it never use to do this to me ‘The anastrozole’. My dose of trt is 65mg twice a week. My question moving forward. Are there other ways to keep my e2 at bay without taking something like anastrozole. Because I just can’t keep taking the AI.

Just out of curiosity, how long have you been taking an AI? Was there a period when you felt like you benefited from taking it?

Oh lets

oh let’s see, roughly around 2 years. It’s always been .25 once a week. And yeah early on the first year I did. My doctor said e2 was getting to high. It was 40 ‘mind you though this was the regular e2 test’. So yeah been taking for 2 years and actually thinking about while typing this, I feel I have bottom out a lot more then I realized.
It’s just now I feel like when I bottom out my e2 I go into a worse hole. But every time I get my labs done my e2 is right in the 20-25 range and my doctor says that’s “perfect.” I asked if maybe we should do the sensitive test and he said “the difference is only by a couple points and it’s a waste of money, stay on the AI.”
So until I found this board recently I have been doing what my doctor tells me too: but I am starting to wonder if he knows what he is doing.

AI at very low dose (.125mg) felt like it was killing me. I took THREE doses in a week and a half time frame and had heart palpitations and a full blown panic attack.

So...no go for me.

I changed my twice a week dose to M-W-F and it has made me feel much better.

I will be pulling labs soon to see where E2 is, but just based on how I feeel...it should be lower.

So, you might give thought to more frequent, lower doses to lower E2.

Yeah well I have no idea how to get those pills any lower then .25. Like to get them to .125 is almost impossible

You are making a big mistake not using the estradiol sensitive assay (LC-MS/MS) to truly see where your e2 sits.

Especially when using an aromatase inhibitor as it is easy to crash ones e2 from taking too much!

I totally agree, but my doctor won’t run the test. I am seeing a new doctor in December. I feel like I am essentially taking the AI with no idea what my e2 is. I also feel like my doctor is wrong when he says the difference is only a couple points.

Inject more frequently. Reduce your dosage. Zinc / DIM / Calcium D-Glucarate can help with symptoms if your E2 is only slightly elevated

Does anyone know if 23 on the normal e2 trst is low? I take my AI on Thursday night and tried having sex tonight and just felt nothing down there during it so I decided just to stop. I am 28 years old I feel like this will never go away. I just really hope it’s low e2 ‘no I don’t have a history of depression either’ Incase anyone maybe thought that’s the case.

At 23 on the non sensitive test your about to crash your E2. I was in the low 30's for a few months & crashed with joint pain, tendon aches & depression. Don't let it get much below 50 on the non sensitive!! Pay for the sensitive assay (LC-MS/MS) test yourself if you have to, it's worth knowing.

no labs...too little information here to work with. IN particular needs SHBG, but higher is better than lower in the most basic sense; Estrogen. But too knowing SHBG is key but overall if you don't feel good then you should stop. Also of note you only talk E numbers and not E symptoms. a 1/4mg dose of Anastrozole is not going to crash you out or otherwise make you bedridden either. What is your history diagnosed or not with anxiety and related condition(s)?

History with anxiety is okay. Depression I mean i feel like everyone goes into there own little depressed state at times. But from what I have been reading ‘and I have been doing a lot lately’ people have been saying that for your libido and mood it’s much safer and healthier for your e2 to be a little high then low. I have also heard that when you crash your e2 it can take awhile for it to get back to normal.

Is the difference really that drastic? Jesus, why don’t doctors do that test then?

Your doctor is keeping the insurance company happy by cutting costs at the expense of your health. The Roche ECLIA methodology is for women and the LC/MS/MS is for men, if your doctors cannot get on board and test correctly, then it's time to move on.

A few points on the bottom end is the difference between being low and needing to take action.

So it’s been 4 nights since I last took my AI dose. Tonight my wrist, knees and elbows are aching really bad. Took 50mg of viagra and still couldn’t perform: my question is how long for my e2 to go back up? Can I do a blast of HCG or a high dose of TRT to move it up. Because this is really miserable; and the pain in my bones really hurts, especially my knees and wrist bones.

Viagra will not work if estrogen is low. Stop the AI for now. I'm seeing a lot of AI over responders lately. I dissolve my 0.050 anastrozole in 5mls of vodka and dose a small faction of that since I'm an over-responder.

You can also dissolve anastrozole in vodka, all you need is graduated dropper pipettes from amazon. I purchased glass jars to store my doses where they are ready to go down the hatch.

I get my anastrozole at compounding pharmacies.

Completely stop on the anastrozole for atleast 6 weeks, don't try or be tempted to up the Test or HCG just keep it the same. If you feel better in 6 - 8 weeks time then get a test done & if still using the non sensitive hopefully it will be around 50+- which is good for me! It's matter of patiently waiting now for E2 to rise on your usual T protocol. Your very sensitive to anastrozole like I am.

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone for the help and answering my questions. It sounds like patience is just what I need to focus on. I guess I just fear that my libido will never return and I will be entipe for the rest of my life. I didn’t realize that low e2 killed your sex drive so much. I know high e2 isn’t good either. But is low worse?
