"In July, AbbVie petitioned the court to dismiss 169 of the testosterone lawsuits because, the company alleged, the complaints lacked key information, such as the names of the physicians who prescribed the hormone and of the pharmacies that dispensed it to the patients who are suing. The plaintiffs’ lawyers shot back with a filing that asserts AbbVie is using the issue as “a tactical sword in the testosterone bellwether process, rather than as a fact finding and discovery tool to gather information and collect the plaintiffs’ medical records with authorizations.”Regardless of how all this plays out, the attack against testosterone has already taken a toll on AbbVie’s AndroGel. In the first half of this year, which the company reported on July 24, sales of the product dropped nearly 32% year-over-year to $323 million."
