Power Red or whole blood donation for high hematocrit ?

Yes, but those drops are only temporary. After two weeks you’re back to 50% or more of your pre-donation hemoglobin level. Of course if you aggressively continue to donate for years the average hemoglobin declines long term. That was my experience donating while not on TRT. Guys on exogenous...

Elevated systolic blood pressure, even on BP meds. Any ideas?

The edema and upper range estradiol may be related. As I said, I would get another E2, CBC, CMP, Iron Panel and RBC magnesium before committing to a lifetime of BP meds and diuretics.

Elevated systolic blood pressure, even on BP meds. Any ideas?

Since you've been off TRT for 8 weeks, test E2 again. I'm suspicious of that. Also, make a list of everything you've taken - including supplements - since the blood pressure went up. As @JmarkH said, your electrolytes might be out of balance. I would go back and test E2 again, and do a CBC...

    Tetracyclines and Estrogen

I didn't respond to your original post, but I think it's plausible that tetracyclines increase estrogen. Also, I seem remember reading somewhere that estradiol increases DHT... though maybe that's nonsense from the recesses of my mind.

The alcohol swab before the needle: A point of debate Or a waste of time?

@Vince Did this unfortunate guy with sepsis provide any more details other than injecting "dirt"? I mean, did he not use an alcohol swab on the vial and injection site? Did he reuse a needle/syringe?

My Experience On Jatenzo (Oral TRT) Log

I believe he’s saying that low vitamin K2 was contributing to excessive urination, which in turn led to dehydration. The dehydration caused his hemoglobin to appear elevated. Speculation: the vitamin K2 (mk-4) he took reduced his dehydration, thus making hemoglobin appear lower on the test...

The alcohol swab before the needle: A point of debate Or a waste of time?

I always use an alcohol swab and let it dry. It’s just peace of mind considering the cost of emergency care (in case of infection) these days unless you have platinum employer provided health insurance.

Low ferritin doesn't matter as long as hemoglobin and hematocrit are good?

Can iron deficiency cause low aromatase levels? They fed mice a low iron diet (LFD) and then looked at various markers. The expression of CYP19A1 mRNA dropped significantly. CYP19A1 is part of the cytochrome P450 family and is responsible for making the aromatase enzyme...

HCG and elevated LH in Alzheimer patients

I don’t intend to make a flippant comment, but how about the increase in gonadotropins in menopausal women? If elevated LH was causal instead of associated then every elderly woman should have Alzheimer’s Disease.

Ferritin really takes this long to increase?

My father was in and out of the hospital (and ER) several times earlier this year, and none of the treating physicians thought his hemoglobin of 10 was a problem. And, of corse, they never did an iron panel on him. I eventually began giving him desiccated beef organ supplements (spleen...

    High DHEAS/Low Cortisol

The adrenals secrete weak androgens, glucocorticoids (mostly cortisol) and mineralocorticoids (aldosterone). Hydrocortisone probably has somewhat of a mineralocorticoid effect if taken at high doses. It’s mostly aldosterone that’s going to increase water retention by increasing the sodium to...
