Jerry Brainum has been involved in health and fitness for over 53 years. He started out as a competitive swimmer, then competed in bodybuilding contests on both the East and West coasts. Along the way, he trained with such luminaries as Arnold Schwarzenegger and helped get Lou Ferrigno started in bodybuilding. From a professional standpoint, Jerry has written for over 30 international publications, and has been quoted in various media sources, such as the New York Times, and others. He has had over 5,000 articles published in the past 35 years, and was the science editor of Muscle and Fitness magazine for 10 years, along with editor-at-large at Flex magazine for 8 years. He also wrote for Ironman magazine for 28 years.

Besides his writing, Jerry has been a sought-after nutritional consultant for many world-class, elite athletes. He has worked with 12 professional boxing champions, and was Oscar De La Hoya's nutrition consultant for three years. Every fighter that Jerry advised was undefeated while Jerry worked with them.
