TRT and ED improvement in honeymoon phase

I read this in many stories, where the first few weeks or months, the fellas report improved libido, erections, energy, then one year later or months later, their erections return to how they were before TRT or worse, libido lowers, energy drops, etc even though their labs are ok, their protocol remains the same, etc

So many times, is a short lived improvement and makes sense, as testosterone alone is rarely the main cause of ED, in most cases, is many other factors, especially arterial and venous

The question is why the honeymoon phase causes this improvement, then goes away

Many falsely believe their ED issues are finally fixed and this is the answer they were always looking for, but is short lived eventually they're back to how they pre TRT

Perhaps your TRT dosage was too high from the start and took several months for your body to become overstimulated and down regulate things, very common according to Dr. Eugene Shippen.

Dr. Eugene Shippen has seen this in his practice for 50 years. Flooding your receptors with too many androgens can desensitize your receptors. You see this sometimes in men doing crazy high testosterone levels for performance enhancement.

They start out with a very high libido, then down the road low or no libido at all.

This video below is time edited to get to the point.

The same happened to me after the first 6 months, which took me over 2 years to figure out TRT decreases my iron stores fast! You have a vitamin and mineral panel, including ferritin and iron saturation, thyroid panel, lipids, comprehensive metabolic panel, please do share!

After 15yrs of TRT blood work is consistent, lucky never had any sides. Libido, mood, muscle mass is on point. It takes time.

During the honeymoon, the influx of extra testosterone gives you a kind of high and keeps the nervous system in high gears. That improves all symptoms.

It goes away because the brain adjusts neuroreceptors and becomes less responsive to the new levels of testosterone.

So the TRT honeymoon is analogous to the first experiences of drug users, which they keep chasing their whole life but can't recreate later.

The h-moon phase may simply be that your own system hasn’t fully shutdown your own production yet.

Understanding Your Hormones

Estradiol (E2)

A form of estrogen produced from testosterone. Important for bone health, mood, and libido. Too high can cause side effects; too low can affect well-being.

DHT

Dihydrotestosterone is a potent androgen derived from testosterone. Affects hair growth, prostate health, and masculinization effects.

Free Testosterone

The biologically active form of testosterone not bound to proteins. Directly available for cellular uptake and biological effects.
