* with other scientists we published some possible diagnostic marker for the PFS  our first hypothesis is that the main damage is in the brain, in the neurocircuits that control also our mood and also our sexual activity, the main effect is in the sexual domain but they have also mental problem (depression/anxiety), they have physical problem (disturbance in the sleeping and in the muscle and so on) and so it is a very complicated pathology

* I wish not to demonize this drug because it has been  effective but we don't know why in some people we have this important side effect, we believe it is a modification our genes that is induced by the finasteride, we are in contact with some patients that after 10 or 20 years they still have this side effect so it is a complete disaster for these people

Melcangi and his team have published 14 studies on finasteride

Understanding Your Hormones

Estradiol (E2)

A form of estrogen produced from testosterone. Important for bone health, mood, and libido. Too high can cause side effects; too low can affect well-being.

Free Testosterone

The biologically active form of testosterone not bound to proteins. Directly available for cellular uptake and biological effects.
