Do you mean evidence for increased thrombotic risk in regular blood donors? They don't allow blood donations frequently enough to allow for persistently decreased hematocrit / decreased iron stores. Hematocrit/Hb bounces back to normal within 1 to a couple of weeks as long as iron stores are adequate.


In this paper we're essentially drawing from the same mechanism of action of increased thrombotic risk in Chuvash erythrocytosis undergoing therapeutic phlebotomy. Regardless, evidence of efficacy in this population is lacking. We find the recommendations/statements in guidelines too strong for a practice without evidence.
