Testosterone gel, how long to absorb completely?

Hi!

How long does it take for the body to completely absorb all it can from testosterone gel?
I'm sure it depends on the product, humidity, person to person variability and tons of other factors.. but what is the general recommendations?

I've started gel, and am constantly worried about rubbing it off throughout the day. The same goes for sweating.. When is sweating a problem? Only when you're dripping and the gel might actually come off? Or are there other factors such as the act of sweating pushes out the gel from your skin somehow?

Oh, and when I have a topic going: are there any benefits to cycling where you put the gel? i.e. shoulders one day, abdomen the other?

Thanks!

I think it's good after a few hours. Now I wouldn't apply it and then go to the gym and so on. Part of the reason that topicals aren't really the thing, on this forum atleast, as there are problems like this, and others, that injections you just don't have to deal with. Things that help absorption can be exfoliating the application site and using a moisturizer.

On average I have read that with gels and creams you should allow a minimum of two hours before getting it wet. However, when I was on Androgel I would apply every morning after showering. When I showered that evening or the next morning I could feel the Androgel, that I had put on that morning, being washed off. I guess that is why they state the average absorption is about 10%.

I use Testogel and have peak Testosterone levels, I vary application, sometimes rubbing in, leaving an hour then applying a moisturiser or a sun cream for max absorption, other times I just rub in, allow to dry (less than 5 mins) and leave it on all day, if I go for a shower, or a swim, or sweat within that day, so be it.
Ideally leaving on for 4 hours is good.
Testogel manufacturer says maximum absorption is 4 hours.
.
The benefits are; unlike injections; Gels are more in line with your body Testosterone production where it is maximum in morning and slowly reduces during the day (24 hour period) and then you put on next application. obviously a more natural cycle within your body rhythm.
Injections are 24/7 and realistically have been untested over a couple of decades, perhaps we are all guinea pig's here.
.
Gel Application;
I like to cycle the application, shoulders one day, arms the next, then upper thighs, then abdomen, I even apply to chest on occasion with no adverse problem.
.
The reason I cycle application points is due to the alcohol content which can dry out your skin even though it assists absorption.
.
Many on this forum condemn using gels, even though most have never tried them! perhaps doctors in usa make more cash through prescribing injectable's to patients and concentrate on this more than the patients health, who knows?
.
All I can say is Gels work very well for me and I have maximum total & free testosterone, I do not use other medications along with this, I feel good, sexual appetite & performance is good, gym work outs are very good, just wish I started earlier than a couple of years back, I am 54 years of age.
.

If you cycle application points it will result in lower results. If your getting skin irritation you may not be spreading it out enough. More skin contact = more T getting in. If your getting left over residue your not spreading it enough.

I was very thorough in spreading the gel over my body but just did not get good absorption. Doesn't matter now, I have switched to injections and no longer have to worry about transferring the gel to other family members.

Thanks for all the answers and opinons!

I also agree that gel can be a great option for many people, as long as the dosing is correct for them.

I'd like a ton of more research and studies on this topic, but I'm open to the idea exfoliating and moisturizers.

Why will it result in lower results?

Why will it result in lower results?

It does not Lower results, not sure where "Captain" got this idea from?

But I can confirm I have been using Testogel for 30 months now and my levels are top end of the scale.

I wrote to the manufacturer asking why they advise not to apply to the chest, and although they replied, they did not provide an explanation or specific answer

Yeah, I've been thinking about this.. I'm on Tostran 2% now, and it says to apply to abdomen or inner thighs and possibly cycle them. They "advise against using it other places on the body". I suspect there is no real reason for this, so I'm taking a chance and just apply it to upper arms and shoulders. Makes much more sense.. or maybe I'm doing something stupid..

I got the idea from Dr. Crisler and he is correct from what I have found by doing so. If you read the prescribing info you will not find anything about using it on random places. Like using a lotion you may be conditioning the area of application.

Yeah, as far as I can tell, cycling doesn't seem to be better..

Still, would love if someone could tell me if applying gel to a different place than suggested on the label is a problem?

Tostran specifically says abdomen and thighs, but could I be doing myself a disservice by applying it to shoulders? Could it even be harmful? It's difficult to find information about this!

Testogel manufactured by "Besins" specifically says apply to shoulders, arms, abdomen

over the years I have applied to all of these places as well as upper thighs and lats, my blood results prove to me that all of these places work as good as each other, with my upper thighs, I ensure they are shaved prior to application
.
if any left on my hands after rubbing in, I apply a small amount of water and rub into my calfs

Really different industry, but I know a little about how standards are created in the electronic industry. I have created cable "standards" because I only had a 25 ft cable available to test, just as likely a 50ft cable would work just as well, but i never tested that.

If I apply the same reasoning to drugs then I get the following.

So typically the "reason" for a product saying "specifically" anything is simply because that was the way it was tested. When getting FDA approval, they don't vary sites, so they don't know if another site is good or not. If they did vary sites, it would make the approval process much more expensive. Each site would need it's own process. I have seen this in new drugs when I investigated biotech stocks and their new drug approval process, asking the CEO why they did certain things a certain way in their approval process. It's usually because that was the easiest way to standardize their testing.

How were your results after applying to upper arms and shoulders?

If that's the case my Dr doesn't like money.....keeps increasing number of pumps on androgel and he won't prescribe an injectible.
