Scrotum Ultrasound..

My NP recommends I get a scrotum ultrasound. Has anyone here done this? Is it a routine test for hypogonadism? I'm secondary, so I don't think the issue is with my testes. I think I remember her mentioning something about varicose.. Anyway, she said it's up to me to do it or not.

My insurance still hasn't authorized it and I prefer not to pay for it out of pocket..

My question: is this a popular / necessary test.

Thanks for your time and help!

She did that and a prostate exam and didn't notice anything. I think I'll skip the test as it seems to relate to fertility. I'm 57 and my kids are all teenagers, and we are not having anymore. I'm not sure why she is "recommending" this test. Thanks for your fast response!

I’m a Medical Sonographer who has performed over a 1000 scrotal ultrasounds. Varicoceles are common in the left scrotum. This my affect you fertility but no correlation with ED.

Thanks, Bernie!

My ED is starting to correct itself with TRT and prescribed low dose Cialis. I think it is more the T kicking in as I am coming into my 3rd week. I'm not sure why she suggested this test, but I think I'll pass on it. Thanks again!

I had a scrotal ultrasound years ago when I was young and my wife and I were trying to conceive. It was part of a comprehensive workup to determine why my sperm count was low. Don't remember specifically what this test was supposed to reveal, but one of the treatments I ended up having was a surgery to snip a vein that was apparently making my testicles too warm. I was also put on HCG and Clomid.

Yeah, it seems that this test revolves around fertility which I am no longer interested in. Thanks for your post..
