Seeking input from this great site of knowledge and experience- I am 52 yrs old, 6'1" and 220 lbs. Lift seriously in gym 3x week and in overall good health/ shape. I have been on TRT for 10 yrs with no complaints and manage well ("dialed in" I guess one could say) for me. I have suffered with primary hypertension since finding in my early 20's, and never have been able to get my BP under 140/ 80's or so even on prescribed medications. I have tried Lisinopril (but had the throat tickle/cough), Atenolol in the early days, Amlodipine, and tried HCTZ diuretics and did not tolerate well ( ED and swelling feet). currently on 40 mg Benicar (ARB)- maxxed out. Primary doc now added 4mg of Doxazosin in addition to the 40 mg Benicar, and I have been monitoring BP= now at 150's over 80's and as high as 186/ 85 several times. I also take daily 5 mg. Cialis with no issues. I am hoping someone has some experiences to report or knowledge of successful med combinations, etc.? I do not want to use diuretics again if possible, but see that studies for Resistant HTN show a med protocol of and ARB, Calcium Channel antagonist, and Thiazide diuretic cocktail are recommended. Any thoughts or experiences welcome!
