Why is high blood pressure a contraindication for blood donation? I did some quick googling but didn't find a good answer. To me, it makes more sense that you shouldn't be able to donate blood if your blood pressure is too low. Is it because decreasing blood volume in a hypertensive patient results in increased cardiac output?
