1) Evaluate Prostate Cancer Risk


 a) Elicit history of:


 i) Prostate cancer


ii) Prostate cancer in first degree siblings


iii) Prostate biopsy


iv) prostate surgery


b) Perform digital prostate examination


c) Measure baseline PSA level in men 55 to 70 years of age 


d) Consider using an on-line tool such as the Prostate Cancer Prevention Trial Risk Calculator to compute baseline risk of prostate cancer




2) Evaluate lower urinary tract symptoms:


a) International Prostate Symptom Scale score 


b) Medications for lower urinary tract symptoms 


c) History of surgery for benign prostatic hyperplasia
