Hello board,

This reference has been great on my journey to get ahead of my health. I'm about to lose my job because of the low energy, low motivation and other symptoms I've only just recently discovered in the last 6 weeks. Jobs come and go, especially in my field (health informatics), and I'm thankful that this stimulus helped me finally discover what may be the reason for my unexplained symptoms and health challenges.

I'm male, late 30's, live in chicago. I've had high triglycerides for over 10 years and every male in my family has diabetes. Last year diagnosed with metabolic disorder. Last month found out I had 270 total test. Primary care physician recommended watch and wait, saw an anti-aging clinic doc who was going to put me on 2000 IU 2xWeek hCG as his "proprietary vitamins", and neither of those options quite felt right. From recommendations by this board, I'm going to see a doctor from Northstar Medical later this week.

I'm hopeful that this will work, but I also know I'm up against challenges due to the hormonal / genetic aspect of Metabolic disorder.

Thanks for the great resource and I look forward to joining everyone on this journey.

Just a couple thoughts I have. I wonder what's your apo-e, it would help with knowing what kind of diet is best for you.
There is a good TRT doctor in Chicago that's a friend of Nelson, you may like to see. Dr. Daniel Berger, MD

Thanks for the support. Going to see a person in Dr. Berger's office/practice based on reco from this forum.

I haven't gone the genetic testing route to determine APO-E or other genetic health risks. What do you recommend? Based on my family history, I know that high triglycerides lead to diabetes as a matter of course. I'm aiming for "realistic paleo" where I eat paleo when I have a choice.

I'm counting macros and calories religiously, and avoiding grains. I've lost a reasonable bit of weight (~20lbs) in past year via diet, improved sleep quality and weightlifting.

I try to keep my triglycerides 60 or under but they have been running around 70. I eat very low-carb high fat diet and never count calories but I'm apo-e 3/3. made for a high fat diet.

Beyond Testosterone Book by Nelson Vergel
Metabolic disorder is a big word used in hospitals to describe that your hormones are not functioning properly. They said this of me for years until I went to some hormone experts who diagnosed me as being hypopituitary. So the fact you are diabetic, have low T and other hormone deficiencies is no surprise. I was basically in the same situation with all the horrible symptoms too... poor sleep, lethargic, sore muscles/joints and chronic fatigue syndrome. The hospital only tried to treat the symptoms and the first suggested drug was a SSRI... by every single MD I met. I refused every time because I knew it was downhill if I went that route. The best thing I ever did was see a hormone specialist... and these guys are not attached to the hospital and are usually not covered by insurance. So they put me on hormones and my life improved a thousand percent. Go see one of our sponsors here like Defy and put this behind you or this will drag on forever. Goodluck!
