As a Harvard Medical School professor who challenged an 80-year-old Nobel Prize-winning theory, I discovered that one of medicine's most accepted beliefs about testosterone and prostate cancer was actually a dangerous myth. By learning to question established wisdom with scientific rigor and an open mind, we can transform medical myths into breakthrough discoveries that save lives. Abraham Morgentaler, MD was born in Montreal, Canada. He graduated from Harvard College in 1978, and Harvard Medical School in 1982. Dr. Morgentaler completed his residency in 1988 from the Harvard Program in Urology, and then joined the faculty of Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Harvard Medical School. He is currently the Blavatnik Faculty Fellow in Health and Longevity at Harvard Medical School.

Dr. Morgentaler is an international authority on men’s health and a pioneer in the treatment of testosterone deficiency in men. His research is credited for reversing the decades-old belief that testosterone therapy is risky for prostate cancer. Dr. Morgentaler has published over 200 scientific articles on testosterone, prostate cancer, male sexual dysfunction, and male infertility. His publications have been cited more than 14,000 times. His h-index is 63.

Dr. Morgentaler received the 2024 Grandmaster in Testosterone Award by the Androgen Society. He was selected to give the prestigious John K Lattimer Lecture at the 2022 annual meeting of the American Urological Association and also the AUA Lecture at the 2016 annual meeting of the European Association of Urology.

In 1999 Dr. Morgentaler founded Men's Health Boston, the first comprehensive Men’s Health center in the US. Dr. Morgentaler co-founded the Androgen Society, an international multi-disciplinary organization dedicated to research and clinical excellence for testosterone deficiency and its treatment.

Dr. Morgentaler’s work has appeared in many of the leading medical journals, including The New England Journal of Medicine, The Lancet, The Journal of the American Medical Association, Cancer, and The American Journal of Medicine. He co-chaired the popular Controversies in Men’s Health Forum at the annual meeting of the American Urological Association for 20 years. Dr. Morgentaler has been an invited speaker and visiting professor in over 30 countries on five continents. He currently offers a virtual fellowship in testosterone therapy via his educational website, T4LEducation.com.

Dr. Morgentaler is the author of four books, including the best-selling Testosterone For Life, as well as The Truth About Men and Sex, and The Viagra Myth: The Surprising Impact on Love and Relationships.

Dr. Morgentaler has been featured in many national media outlets, including The NBC Nightly News, The CBS Early Morning Show, CNN with Anderson Cooper, Time Magazine, The New Yorker, Newsweek, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and most recently in On Point on NPR. He currently co-hosts the podcast, The Sex Doctors, with his wife, Dr. Marianne Brandon.
