I have suffered from occasional bouts of mild prostatitis while on TRT over the past couple of years and wanted to share some information. Anyone who has ever experienced prostatitis will tell you the horror stories that comes with it. Weaker urine stream, burning sensation, constant discomfort in the gouch area and that lovely feeling of someone stabbing you in the prostate with an ice pick when you have an orgasm. In my case, my psa has never gone above 0.9 and a round of antibiotics always seem to do the trick but is there a better option? The commonly prescribed antibiotics for prostatitis are Cipro (ciproflaxcin) and Bactrim. Yes they work great but for some like me, the side effects really suck. Cipro causes me to have tachycardia and Bactrim causes nausea, stomach cramping, dizziness and extreme fatigue. We have all heard about the benefits of saw palmetto for prostate health so I started to do some more research on natural remedies and came across an article about treating prostatitis with oregano oil. here is some information from the article: Oregano essential oil has antibacterial, anti-fungal and antiviral properties. Studies show that oregano oil treatments are superior to those of prescription antibiotics because it can effectively kill bacteria without the harmful side effects (like destroying food bacteria in the gut) and risk of antibiotic resistance. To use oregano oil to treat bacterial prostatitis, combine 3–4 drops with ½ teaspoon coconut oil and take it internally twice daily for a maximum of two weeks. So does it work? YES! I did exactly as stated above and my prostatitis symptoms were gone after just a few days. This stuff is amazing. I will warn you that the oil is very powerful and stings a bit going down. I put the drops in a tiny bit of Kombucha and it was much easier to get it down. Just make sure you buy organic and edible essential oil or you can buy it in pill form. So there you have it. My first contribution to the site LOL! I hope this helps anyone who has prostatitis. It did for me.
