First Injection- Report In

Hey guys,

Just reporting in- after much deliberation I decided to take the plunge and begin TRT through Defy. I had my first injection today and despite a bit of an adrenaline rush when I injected, I think it went well.

I'm doing Test Cypionate SubQ with a 25g 5/8" needle, 70mg 2x/week withdrawing with a 20g needle, plus 400mg HCG using a 31g needle. At some point I may try a combined injection like Nelson utilizes, but for now I'm doing separate injections on the same days.

Not much site soreness to speak of, and only a modest amount of bleeding. I did squeeze the site during injection, but released it after finishing, and left the needle in for 20-30 seconds before withdrawing, and then massaged the area a bit.

We'll see if there's some site soreness in the next few days and how I respond to the medication in the next several weeks. I gather that the physiological changes don't really kick in for a while, though there may be some experiential changes attributable to the placebo effect.

Anyway, overall it went more easily than I feared, and I look forward to observing the effects going forward.

Wanted to share; I welcome any thoughts, suggestions, recommendations for going forward. Thanks all.

No need to draw with a separate needle. It is just a waste. Also, I would get some one piece syringes (insulin syringes), as using ones that you can take the needles off of will cause a lot of testosterone waste over time due to the dead space. You will probably even run out of testosterone before it's time to get a refill.

For 7 years I've drawn with an 18g and inject with a 29g and it works just fine.

That 29g is about as painless as it comes:)

Agree with Gene, no worries with switching up needles. In fact, I do 20g for the draw, and 27g x 5/8", BUT, keep in mind, I do that for IM. I think where you're going to see the problem is doing a 25g SubQ!! I wouldn't do a 25g for IM, let alone SubQ.

So, for me, IM is the 27g x 5/8", and if I do go SubQ, I have 31g x 5/16" insulin. With the insulin pins, I obviously don't switch out. 29g or 31g will load cypionate fine, it just takes about 1 to 2 minutes to fill approx. 1/2cc with the 31g's that I have. Get a little wedge of sort to hold the bottle, pull back the pin, come back in a few minutes and it's ready to go (a la gravity).

Thanks MG123- do you have any recommendations? I'm using what Dr Saya recommended, though I'm happy to order on my own and try different gauges/needle lengths/types, etc.

I would have before I started, but honestly I find the needle/syringe options so confusing and hard to decipher I thought it would be easier to just take the recommendation now to get started, and then experiment later.

Thanks Gene Devine!

I certainly intend to experiment with different needles to find what works for me. When switching, do you do anything in particular to ensure you don't lose much/any of the medication? Do you do SubQ or IM?

I did try to withdraw a little further to pull the oil from the needles before switching, and then tapped the syringe to bring the air to top before depressing the plunger enough to see the first drop at the needle head. But it's such a small needle I had a hard time seeing, and it looked like I got down to 0.3 rather than 0.35 and I still hadn't seen it. Rather than risk wasting it, accepting that there may be a little loss and that's ok.

Thanks Vettester Chris,

I do have some 31g insulin syringes, and can imagine it takes a little while to draw using that. Jay Campbell mentions the possibly of site infections using a needle that small for IM- is there any risk of that in your opinion, for either IM for SubQ?

I am keen on trying a single draw/injection needle not just for reduced medication loss but also to simplify the injection process. After I settle into a routine, I plan to check in with Defy and mix it up a little to figure out the best options. Thanks again.

I do have a question for anyone:

Does anyone backfill their syringes ahead of time? If so, how far out do you do it? Is there any danger in doing that? How do you best store the syringes for later injection? Any concerns about maintaining sterility?

I ask partly because I'm going to be traveling for a few days in early December and it will be over one of my injection days, so I'd like to avoid having to bring my whole bottle of Cyp and HCG and risk damage/loss when traveling. It'd be nice just to bring my couple of syringes and then dispose of them while away.

But I want to make sure I do it safely and without risk of accidentally plunging the medication out before injection time.

Pre-loading syringes is not recommended, but it is done by a lot of people. It increases the chance of compromising sterility. I must admit I have done it before myself when I have traveled.

If you don´t feel like travelling with a preloaded syringe why not just inject more testo that last for week?
I always do that without problems.

Thanks MG123- I'll have to ruminate and maybe consult Defy about their recommendation.

Hi Tommy Wall- I'm just starting out and I'm hesitant to mess with my injection schedule at this point. I'd rather keep my variables minimized so as to be able to report accurately on my experience as I start gearing up and potentially do any fine tuning.
