This may be late advice but if you are going to try getting off coffee, you should ween it down slowly over some time, maybe a few weeks. For me, i wanted to try quitting coffee because it seemed to give me muscle and joint aches. I found that stopping coffee seemed to help that at least for me...
@FDV70 - when taking the iron as part of this protocol, should it be taken on an empty stomach or is is ok to take with food? Thanks!
edit: After looking around I may have answered my own question. it looks like it is best absorbed on an empty stomach.
Thank you. I appreciate all the comments and appreciate the info that Nelson provided. I definitely don't want to rush into a biopsy. I don't think my doctor will either.
Hi All,
Did some labs last week for my annual with my primary doctor. My PSA came back at 4.38 ng/mL which is a bit over the reference range: < OR = 4.00 ng/mL. This test was done at Quest. Looking back over time, it's been 2.8 -> 3.0 each year since 2018. I'm 57. Previous DRE's didn't raise...
Thank you for all the info. I appreciate the feedback. I've been on TRT for a while and originally was at 100mg weekly in one shot and then split into two. I decided to lower the weekly dose to hopefully have decent T levels and try to keep my hematocrit in check. Frequent blood donation crashed...
I have been feeling a bit down lately and my mood has been a bit up and down. It certainly could be related to work and life stress but I wanted to see if my testosterone levels were too low given I'm only injecting 70mg of cypionate split in two doses per week subq. I did the lower cost labs at...
Related to this - I’ve been injecting a total of 65mg per week split in two subq injections. I was hoping to keep my hematocrit lower. I backed off more frequent blood donations because my ferritin crashed. I’ve given blood twice this year and at my last donation a week ago, they did the finger...
Happened to find this article which mentions a dizzying number of connections to companies and labs and universities.
KHN article
Hard to tell what this all means.
@lunchbeast - You’re right, he‘s probably not trying to bulk up. One podcast he mentioned weighing around 150+ lbs when he...
Thank you everyone for the responses. I may not have looked into this enough but on the surface he doesn’t seem to be pushing any specific plans or supplements etc. His podcasts are supported by some sponsors which they acknowledge and thank during the podcasts. Athletic Greens being one. I...
Recently stumbled on a lot of interviews with longevity scientist and researcher David Sinclair. Many on YouTube. He is saying that research is showing that eating less and having longer periods of fasting activate genes that keep us younger and healthier. He is eating a mostly plant based diet...
I take Valsartan at night, simply because I have to take synthroid in the morning and the pharmacist recommend splitting them that way. It’s worked ok but my BP is always better in the morning vs. the evening when it’s almost time for my next dose.
This is a good discussion, I’m glad to see I’m not alone. I think there is some difference also if a woman has had a hysterectomy with ovary removal vs. still having her ovaries. We are both in our mid 50s and my wife went through a hysterectomy early due to endometriosis. Without her ovaries...
I’m your age and I’ve always had a lot of chest hair to the point that I trim it down every so often to keep it from getting too furry. But surprisingly, not a lot of underarm hair. Like you I had fairly hairy legs when I was younger. When I got to the point of starting TRT about 9 years ago...
One possible side effect to be aware of is possible prolonged erections or priapism while taking it. I had taken it for a short period of time and at first had some erections out of the blue I thought might have been related. I found I was pretty groggy in the morning taking it although I think...
Not sure how helpful this is but here is a recent story on CNN about the use of melatonin - Using melatonin for sleep is on the rise, study says, despite potential health harms
Kind of a side note to this. At the start of the pandemic, I slept funky on my pillow one night and woke up with a crick in my neck. Where I couldn‘t turn my head to one side. Over a few days that progressed to severe pain on the outside of my right shoulder with some numbness and tingling in my...
I just read a book called Dead Man Running by Kevin Webber. When he was diagnosed with prostate cancer his PSA was 341. He was given 2 years to live. He has done chemo and radiation and has somehow managed to run ultra marathons to raise money for prostate cancer research. I think he is now 7...
Just wondering if you would start this protocol immediately after blood donation at the prescribed times? Would it be best to donate first thing in the morning and then start supplementing for 4/5 days?
thanks
In my case, I was diagnosed as having Hashimoto's a few years before trying any TRT. I have slightly increased my Synthroid dosage over time but not by much.
I appreciate all the feedback. I'm sure my T levels are probably pretty low at this rate and as someone pointed out, probably lower than when I started this journey. I'll see how it goes. If I find anything interesting, I'll let you know. Thanks
Just curious if anyone has tried a low dose protocol and how that worked out long term? I had been injecting T cypionate 50mg twice a week for quite a while. Having hematocrit concerns and tanking my ferritin with frequent blood donations, I dropped the T down to 40mg twice a week. Then I...
Iron deficiency can cause itching. Not sure what your diet and blood donation have been like but it seems like a long shot that you would be iron deficient. I went through a similar thing last year and didn’t come up with a definitive answer. Like you I would take Benadryl at night and Allegra...
There is a prescription form of niacin called Niaspan. I’m not sure if it’s a slow release. Before I was ever on TRT, it raised my HDL to a decent 45 level. I’ve always had low overall cholesterol numbers. I found with a lot of endurance exercise (running) I could maintain around 40 without the...
Hi all,
I used to be active on the peaktestosterone site but haven’t participated much recently. I’ve been on cypionate injections for many years. For the last 6 months or so I’ve been injecting 50mg (.25 ml) twice a week Subq. I’ve been donating blood frequently also. 4 times this year, 5...
