Yes, it was evaluated when the initial injection protocol was developed. Not to oversimplify, but was he is asking me to do this time around will mean that I am actually walking round with more T in my system than I otherwise would be; 7 days after injecting 1cc > 3.5 days after injecting .5cc.
I agree, I can't find support for his suggestion. I did get SHBG tested at the end of the first 10 weeks of TRT and was mid-range. His suggestion to test was different from what he recommended for testing at the end of the second 10 weeks. Will discuss with him soon.
I realize it doesn't have to be the second injection, I was simply describing an example of how I might test and be in a trough. I'm going to question Doc as to his motives. I can't find a rationale for the protocol he suggested. I should have mentioned that this will be my second 10-week...
I would like to be armed with the correct information if possible. From what I've gathered here proper testing protocol would be to do the first injection of the 2x week schedule and right before the planned second injection 3.5 days later have my blood tested, preferably am.
Funny after reading this I can actually see his rationale.....maybe  Since the amount of medication is in steady state after 40 days and I'm doing the testing at 10 weeks, doubling the dosage and testing 8 days later will not change to total amount of medication in my system compared...
Trying to wrap my head around this. I will be testing in a steady state because I'll be 10 weeks into the standard protocol. There would not be a new steady state to reach as it doesn't matter if you do two injections in an 8 day period or one.....as long as total cc's are the same, correct?
I currently do two injections per week approximately 3.5 days apart. For my second set of tests Doc wants me to double normal dose (.5cc) to a full 1cc and get tested 7 days after injection. How is this representative of the T levels I'm walking around at? He mentioned that we want to get...
My expectations were indeed unrealistic and probably jaded by my brother's experience and that of a few others I've personally spoken with....they seem to get more of a kick out of TRT than I have. I've done intense exercise all my life, in the last 5-6 years the returns on the investment have...
Are you referring to MY starting protocol? It wasn't the "standard" 200mg every second week, but 200mg per week with 2 injections 3.5 days apart with .5 mg AI once per week. Not defending the protocol as I now see potential problems with this approach as many have pointed out.
;) Dimensional analysis is sort of a hobby of mine! You have to watch those units closely, though. I misspoke earlier when I said I had a 100 fold increase in free T, it was a 10 fold increase in ng/dl. :o
Thanks, I appreciate the level-headed response. Great quote. Perhaps, as I implied above, I won't have to stumble down quite as far as I thought, but I would have preferred to avoid it to begin with.
All this does give me a broader view of the results, but I still have some serious questions for my Doc as I have been enlightened by hanging around here a bit.
Really, no TRT specialist EVER starts someone at 200mg/week? I guess the references to this dosage that I have seen may not have been a starting point. Several others have mentioned that it was really strange to start the AI. I do understand your point, a lower dosage and I would not have had...
Interesting, I have not used Quest before so I can't respond to any changes they may have instituted, but 35-155 pg/ml is the reference given on the report. I do see from various sites a 47-244 pg/ml reference range, close to what you mentioned, so it looks like I am closer.
One of the same...
Thanks, Coastwatcher....my digging around the resources on this site suggests a need for the sensitive test (LG/MS). Is it true that the standard test I am using usually overstates the true value?
Posted lab results pdf above......reference range for free T is 35-155 pg/ml. Response to my free-T level here in the forums has been a bit ho-hum, but the more "stickies" I read here the more concerned I am about this level. On the other hand, estradiol, hematocrit, etc., don't raise any red...
Interesting, I cannot load my syringe with 25G x 5/8 test cyp in grapeseed oil, far too viscous. Maybe need to warm significantly above room temperature?
I understand that, but would it be contraindicated with my initial T levels? Even at that dosage, what my Doc expected fell far short of a 100-fold increase in free T level! Was his expectation unrealistic or faulty in some way?
I'm surprised at those levels because nothing my Doc suggested or what I have researched suggests I could go from a total T <200 to over 1300 or a free T <3 to over 300 in 10 weeks on my dosage. May be a hefty dose, but certainly not unusual with my initial levels, was it?
SHBG was not on...
Well, here's the latest: https://www.excelmale.com/forum/showthread.php?15571-First-cycle-test-results
I suspect, as does Doc's office, that the test we based protocol on may have been flubbed. :(
Hi, you can get some background for my first 10 weeks of TRT here:
https://www.excelmale.com/forum/showthread.php?15466-New-here
Just received 10 week test results and the following were out of reference range:
Urea nitrogen - 27 mg/dl
BUN/creatinine ratio - 28.7
Testosterone, free - 308.5...
Thanks, CoastWatcher. I'm planning on meeting with or doing teleconference with my Doc after my test results to share my concerns, regardless of what the labs say it sure seems like I should be getting more of a "seat of the pants" response to TRT.
Wow, wish I could say the same re: night and day difference. I just completed my first 10 weeks of 200mg T-cyp per week via two separate injections and honestly can't feel a thing. I'm waiting on test results any day now but I just can't say I've noticed a thing. Doc told me I was a perfect...
Thanks for the info, my pharmacy is in Florida, so I had similar concerns. It is also compounded in grape-seed oil. I just noticed yesterday that the vial specifies storage at basically room temperature, If I remember correctly 85F max. Seems like there would be a reason for that but maybe a...
