Can Creatine Supplementation Increase Hematocrit ?

I dunno.. Creatine is the only supplement I've added since last December and whammo, high hematocrit and lowered kidney function. Although, my kidneys have improved since stopping, I haven't been tested again yet for hematocrit. Like I said, I'll report back afterwards. I've been on 80mg / week...

Can Creatine Supplementation Increase Hematocrit ?

I'd love to use it again.. if it turns out this isn't the culprit, I'll do it again.

Can Creatine Supplementation Increase Hematocrit ?

I realize this is an older post... I am currently testing out the above hypothesis. My Hematocrit has always been around 46. After several months on Creatine @ 5grams / day, it has jumped to 51.8.. along with some kidney issues discussed in another thread. Since stopping creatine, my kidney...

    The Effects of Creatine Supplementation

I have normal kidney function. When I took creatine monohydrate for about 6-8 months it drove my creatinine up to 1.4 and my GFR down to 52. I discontinued creatine for 1 month, got retested and my kidney function returned to normal. My guess it was the creatine along with other meds /...

Single axillary incision endoscopic surgery and liposuction for gynecomastia

I've always had a little bit of gyno. It's bothered me, but I never really addressed it. Recently, going through my whole aortic valve replacement and associated left ventricle issues, my cardiologist prescribed me spironactone. After about 2 months, OH BOY! That really aggravated my gyno. He...

    All About Oxandrolone

I've read somewhere that Oxandrolone can have an effect on lactic acid buildup in quads of cyclist (could be related to quads and hockey) and also painful pumps in the back while doing deadlifts. I'm sure someone with more info will chime in.

    Creatine, Hematocrit, and Kidney Function..

It is strange for me. My hematocrit has always been on the lower side as you can see. I haven't been adding any more Test or other goodies lately. Creatine is the only thing I added @ 5 grams per day. I stopped about a week ago and have another blood test coming up on the 11th. However, I think...

    Creatine, Hematocrit, and Kidney Function..

I think I'll message my NP and tell her I've been using Creatine. I haven't done that yet and it may change the tests I have scheduled in a couple of weeks. I'm pretty sure she plans on doing the same test we've already done.

Funny you mention that. Right below my test result it says this: "This Cr-based equation underestimates GFR in patients with increased muscle mass. Order CYSTATIN C WITH GFR ESTIMATE, LAB4559, if additional evaluation of renal function is needed." I messaged her about that and she responded...

Any TAVR recipients in the crowd?

So I had my first blood test and ECHO in reference to the TAVR. No ECHO results yet, but my BNP levels went from over 1000 down to 65. I'm pretty sure that's great news! I'll update again when I get my ECHO results.

    Creatine, Hematocrit, and Kidney Function..

Just a heads up and probably a bit of "Bro Science." I started taking 5 grams of creatine several months back. It was symptom and problem free and I got great results from it. However, in a recent blood test, my hematocrit went from 46 (where it's been for years) to 51, and my kidney function...

Is it possible to get a prescription for test these days?

I tend to agree that you should find another PCP. My PCP heard my symptoms and ordered the 2 required tests without issue. They were low and she referred me to urology. Now I have annual blood tests, prostate exams, and scripts. At least ask your PCP to refer you to urology.

No, they use a Vascade Vascular Closure System - I wouldn't have known, but they gave me a pamphlet. You can read about it here: Vascular Closure | Haemonetics® Hospital Solutions I didn't have general anesthesia, but I was far from awake. The DR put the stuff in the IV and told me it takes...

TAVR completed on Thursday! WOW, what a difference already! I can breath deeper, I have more energy, and generally feel a lot better. I can't wait to exercise and really feel the difference. Hi Vince, I was 42 at my 1st procedure. Some would ask why I didn't go with a mechanical valve... TAVR - transcatheter aortic valve replacement. Just curious if anyone here has been through the procedure.. I had a bicuspid aortic valve (born with it) replaced with a tissue valve 16 years ago. Single axillary incision endoscopic surgery and liposuction for gynecomastia

Yep, those are the prices in the Boston area anyway.. In most cases, insurance won't help as it's "cosmetic." Maybe if you can prove a medical reason, it might change things. Like you, I saw the price tag and moved on.
