    Ask Dr Rand McClain

Many thanks for the in-depth replies to my concerns and putting things in a common sense perspective. According to the authors of a clinical trial https://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT01769157 , L-carnitine and thyroid hormone tended to antagonize reciprocally in human body. This is obviously...

    Ask Dr Rand McClain

3 questions for Dr. McClain: 1) Have you seen any thyroid suppression with the use of carnitine supplementation for those who are hypothyroid and on thyroid replacement (L-carnitine has been shown in many studies to suppress both T3 and T4 at the cellular level)? If so, do you think taking the...

    Coming off Benzos

This is an excellent forum and resource for those tapering any psych meds, especially benzos: http://survivingantidepressants.org/topic/1024-why-taper-by-10-of-my-dosage/ Basically, to avoid most withdrawal side effects and for harm reduction, the slower the taper, the better. This is a...

Enclomiphene Now Available As A Research Chemical

Anyone see that the Big Pharma US co. Sigma-Aldrich carries what looks like the real deal? The price is outrageous as you can see. Anyone know the difference between citrate and hydrochloride other than just a different carrier molecule? Enclomipheme citrate was the one used in all the research...

Lp(a) [Lipoprotein(a)] - the hidden killer lipid marker

Am familiar with this combo and the research. AOR has a specific powdered formula for this: http://www.aor.ca/en/product/tlc-3.0 I have tried pretty much everything in the past and continue to try OTC natural remedies that have shown limited success in some, and perhaps it's what is keeping my...

Lp(a) [Lipoprotein(a)] - the hidden killer lipid marker

As we learn more about how elevated levels of Lp(a) can potentially kill us before anyone can determine the cause, it is imperative that everyone get this lipid marker tested frequently, especially those on any type of HRT regimen. It is entirely possible that one of the leading culprits behind...

Ask Dr Karlis Ullis Anything Not Answered Already in ExcelMale.com

Sorry, regarding the carnitine/theoretical risk, I know of no actual papers that directly refute the study, however, the study itself I feel is flawed for many reasons, to name a few: 1) The researchers based many of their conclusions about TMAO on research done in mice, so, we don't really...

Yes, am well aware of the TMAO/meat scare that was blasted everywhere back in 2013, much of which has been refuted/debunked: https://www.westonaprice.org/carnitine-and-heart-disease/ http://www.marksdailyapple.com/does-red-meat-clog-your-arteries-after-all/#axzz2Q55sRnAC...

Hello again, Dr. Ullis. We had some previous email exchanges back in 2010. Good to see you on Nelson's forum. I am hypothyroid and am currently treating with 1 grain dessicated thyroid and just added 25mcg Tirosint. I do not have any autoimmune issues (i.e. Hashi's). I recently started...

Can Testosterone Induce Blood Clots and Thrombosis? Interview with Dr Charles Glueck

Yes, am familiar with Clomid being used for PCT, however, I was referring to it as a sole TRT alternative as the whole reason anyone would want to use it for that which is two-pronged - 1) to avoid testicular atrophy and azoospermia that is associated with frank TRT, and 2) less or zero...

Can Testosterone Induce Blood Clots and Thrombosis? Interview with Dr Charles Glueck

If you were using UGL gear, that's a whole other world of risks vs. medically-supervised TRT. Just curious - did you ever try Clomid as an alternative to exogenous testosterone?

Can Testosterone Induce Blood Clots and Thrombosis? Interview with Dr Charles Glueck

Yes, still around. Nothing new. Still in limbo on this conundrum, but haven't given up looking into workarounds. At this point, I don't think there's anything currently available that doesn't have some degree of risk, so it's all about risk management, whether it's TRT, clomiphene, or something...

My trip with CLOMID and PCT to stop testosterone shots

I guess my question is then - what's the cutoff or level you would want to see before resuming TRT? Would you still consider TRT if your levels remained in the 500s even with proper management under the guidance of an HRT doc?
  15. M

My trip with CLOMID and PCT to stop testosterone shots

Absent low-T symptoms and with normal free and bioavailable T, what you've stated about sums it up as to when TRT is not a good choice - and possibly even harmful. With your better understanding of the risks/benefits now, it will be interesting to see how you proceed. Do you think you will ever...

    COQ10 and Blood Viscosity

This is true for anticoagulants that work by blocking Vitamin K (i.e. Coumadin), but not the case with the newer ones: http://a-fib.com/faqs-minerals-supplements-12-coq10-with-blood-thinners/

    COQ10 and Blood Viscosity

CoQ10 is known to inhibit platelet aggregation, but also has been shown to decrease the anticoagulant effects of coumadin (Warfarin), probably via differences in the clotting mechanism. Seems a bit conflicting. As far as viscosity, we are looking good: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/2318549

    Good Fats vs Bad Fats

Mark Sisson's product is the best commercially available IMO, however, since many of us are allergic to chicken eggs, I chose to make my own using duck eggs (which are more nutritionally dense). Also, the Thrive Oil I use is even higher in MUFAs and lower in PUFAs than either avocado or olive oil.

    Good Fats vs Bad Fats

I get all my foods from Whole Foods and the organic section in my local grocer. My basic recipe for my "Paleonnaise" is: 1 cup Thrive Oil 1/4 cup Extra Virgin Olive Oil 1/4 cup Avocado Oil 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar 1 tbsp freeze-squeezed organic lemon juice 2 egg yolks (I use pastured duck...

    Good Fats vs Bad Fats

    1) Bacon is great IF it is the right kind and cooked low heat (sometimes I even steam mine - no, not as tasty as fried, but still good). I get the paleo-friendly, sugar-free free-range turkey bacon from Wellshire Farms...

    Good Fats vs Bad Fats

Sounds like you've done your homework on PUFAs. Now, it's a matter of using the same discipline with anything else in your daily life, and applying it to something you obviosuly feel is important enough so as to limit its deleterious effects. PUFAs are indeed everything you pointed out and are...

Why Clomid Fails: The Zuclomiphene Threshold

Given this, for those not already on Clomid and are seeking an alternative to TRT, it sounds better to just wait until Androxal is approved. For those already taking Clomid and experiencing elevated E2/SHBG, do you think it would take going to anastrozole?

Why Clomid Fails: The Zuclomiphene Threshold

Thanks to the FDA for making fatal last year's release of Androxal which is essentially clomid minus the zuclomiphene, and thus would've avoided the estrogenc double-edged sword effect of clomid. Repros apparently does not have a good rep as a pharmaceutical co., but at least the idea was novel...

Can Testosterone Induce Blood Clots and Thrombosis? Interview with Dr Charles Glueck

Can Testosterone Induce Blood Clots and Thrombosis? Interview with Dr Charles Glueck

For his TRT, is he on injections, pellets, or a gel? What's his dosing protocol? Also, you mention susceptibility to hypercoagulability. Has he experienced any thrombotic events? I'm assuming he hasn't been formally tested nor diagnosed with any familial or acquired clotting disorder, otherwise...
