A posterior vitreous detachment would have been visible on a dilated eye exam. It sounds like syneresis, or the liquefaction of the vitreous. A PVD is not too far away now. This is all normal and definitely age related. When the PVD occurs, it’s usually accompanied with a much larger floater...
There is a device at some eye doc’s offices called Lipiflow. It inserts inside the lids and applies heat with a massaging motion to aid in expressing the oils in the glands. Anecdotally it’s effective. However, insurance doesn’t cover it and it usually costs $800 a treatment, yikes. Just another...
Doxy is typically used for chronic management of blepharitis/meibomian gland dysfunction. I’ll prescribe it 50mg twice daily for three months and then maybe change it to once a day depending on presentation. If there’s a legitimate infection (cellulitis), then I’ll usually go with Keflex 500mg...
Warm compresses and massage to deal with acute bouts. The increase in sebum/meibum is the culprit. Get an over the counter lid scrub preparation and clean your lid/lash area every evening. Sometimes it may take a course of an antibiotic if the style leads to cellulitis.
Personally it only took a week to have the PSG, get the initial cpap, and get started. I recommend the doc’s input to help get dialed in. It took nearly a year to find the right mask and determine that I was better served with a biPAP than a cpap. There are good providers out there, just do your...
You’re going to need a doc who can adjust the settings. Have you had a polysomnograph to determine your level of apnea? That will dictate the therapeutic settings.
Anyone here ever have a partial or total colectomy? I’m probably going to have a sigmoidectomy within the next 2 months for several bouts of complicated diverticulitis. Any experiences would be appreciated.
When on TRT our levels of sebum increase, hence the up tick in acne. Our eyelids secrete a similar substance called meibum. It’s the lipid layer within the our tears. One of its purposes is to aid in keeping our tears from evaporating quickly. So, no T, no oil, thus dryer eyes with some blur...
There’s a direct correlation between prednisone (corticosteroid) use and posterior subcapsular cataracts. T is a different class not associated with cataract formation. We don’t see pubescent boys with those types of cataracts without some underlying systemic condition being treated with...
Bingo. It’s amazing how fast presbyopia sneaks up on us. I promise you you’ll wake up soon and not be able to read the paper or your phone without having to extend your arms quite a bit.
How old are you? The LASIK you had is not a permanent fix. It’s more likely that it’s a combination of regression and lens changes. Hormonal shifts can affect vision but not in the way you’ve described. We will normally see it in pregnant women because their lenses swell slightly making them a...
23 years married and kiss her every time either she or I leave and come home. We kiss truly passionately a couple of times a week without the intent of sex. I like to think Though that every kiss has some passion whether there is tongue involved or not
I’ve had the joint pain prior to even beginning TRT. I used to pop ibuprofen quite regularly and didn’t understand the correlation between nsaids and diverticulitis until I had a self-sealing perforated abscess several years ago. The surgeon told me me I was a cm away from having a partial...
I forgot to mention supplements. Vit D, fish oil, NAC, SAM-e, creatine, arginine/citrulline, pregnenolone, probiotics, 100mg minocycline, and .25mg anastrozole prn based upon feelin.
I’m a 2yr TRT patient dialed in at 37.5mg q3.5 days. My issue is with diverticulitis. Foods don’t seem to be the trigger and my diet is pretty well balanced. NSAIDs seem to be my trigger. My problem is that I work out 4 days a week and wind up with either back or joint issues every couple of...
Just curious if anyone else using a CPAP has had this happen. Normally my AHI is approximately 2 each night. If i throw .25mg arimodex into the mix it drops below 1 and I sleep like a bear minus the snoring of course. I’m injecting t cyp .375mg q3.5 days and use the arimodex the day of...
Been using .025% for over a year now for rosacea. Crow’s feet have disappeared and overall acne has reduced. Still get the occasional pimples due to TRT, but overall it’s worked well. Expect dryness with new onset acne within the first couple of weeks use.
Benzoyl peroxide is one of the primary topicals for acne and it’s otc. Get a 10% bar and a shower brush and use it twice daily. It’s not a cure, but it will help quite a bit.
I'd be curious to know it's effect on pre-cancer or undiagnosed cancerous cells. According to the research it amplifies the VEGF response. Cancer cells do the same, as do areas of ischemia or hypoxia particularly in the retina. Could be a possible contraindication if it becomes readily...
I saw his nurse practitioner and she was awesome. We discussed options and she’s allowed me to be the driver after we’ve discussed options. I’ll definitely be seeing her again.
Tamoxifen is also known to cause enlarged optic nerves, dry eyes, and decreased vision due to retinopathy. Cataracts are also a presupposed sequela but that hasn’t been confirmed with studies.
