Will t4 rise on it's on after stopping t3 med to lower rt3?

Thought I would toss this out there since I haven't seen any threads that answers the questions - will T4 rise on its own after stopping Cytomel used to lower RT3? I started taking 20mcg day of Cytomel in March this year due to high RT3 of 28.1. Just completed my blood test for consult with...

Hello, new member here. Questions about my start so far on TRT

ratbag I'm going to start a new post on the Thyroid section. Think it may help clear up some questions on T3 meds and lowering T4.

TRT and effect on Thyroid, E2, Cortisol, DHEA, LH, FSH, etc... and Test Esters.

Can you post your thyroid labs with ranges? High RT3 will make you feel worse than bad. I just went thru that. Lots of good thyroid members here that can advise you.

newbie questions w/ some lab results

I would definitely ask for a full thyroid panel. Low thyroid and low testerone symptoms are identical. At a minimum test TSH, T4, Free T4, Free T3, T3 and Reverse T3. Lots of great information in the Thyroid section of ExcelMale.

Can I go cold turkey after a T-mil prescribed me 200mg of test cyp per week?

Thanks Vince C.... too often most men think when they start having symptoms of ED, low energy, brain fog, etc. that its GOT to be testosterone. I was in that boat about 3 years ago and have since learned a healthy functioning thyroid with optimal T3, T4, RT3 levels can make a huge difference in...

Can I go cold turkey after a T-mil prescribed me 200mg of test cyp per week?

Your testosterone levels certainly don't warrant therapy. Based on your symptoms, have you had a full thyroid panel done? Symptoms are very similar. Here is good explanation by a top thyroid MD: https://www.restartmed.com/thyroid-symptoms-men/

    Cytomel makes me sleepy

Here are 2 good links on how to flush high RT3 out of your system. First you must correct the cause of it in the first place like low iron, ferritin, etc. Good read. My RT3 was 28 back in Feb when first diagnosed. Have been on Cytomel since then and waiting on blood test results to come...

    Cytomel makes me sleepy

Why are you taking Cytomel and what were your lab test like before starting? Sounds like you aren't taking high enough dose and fatigue, sleepiness are hypo symptoms.

can cytomel by itself be used to treat hypothyroidism

Lt Chris will be interesting to see what Defy changes your meds to after the consult. Looks like your RT3 is responding well to the Liothyronine but your T4 is in the gutter. I'm in same boat with high RT3 of 28.1 back on 2/16 and am taking Cytomel 20mcg day, not quite as much as you. I am...

Does Testosterone Replacement Affect the Thyroid?

From the attached study, it appears low thyroid function can cause low testosterone which may be why most of us think its low T causing our symptoms when in fact, very well could be low thyroid function and probably both. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/15142373 Its well known in the...

    Blood work and TRT input

You have to watch your GFR kidney function if taking boron. Been taking 6mg day for about 2 years for high SHBG and my GFR has been declining. Didn’t know that until recently so I’ve stopped. https://www.webmd.com/vitamins/ai/ingredientmono-894/boron If your GFR is ok then I would take it.

Would love some input on lab results

Your symptoms may not be all testosterone related. Could be your thyroid. Your FT3 of 3.3 appears to be in middle of range however, optimal ranges are 3.8-4.4 pg/ml. Here is good resource for what is normal ranges and what is optimal...

First time using TRT and thinking about adjusting the dosage

Roberto you paid for those labs so if it were me I’d tell the Dr you want a copy and post them here. I’d also find another DR. 2 mg Anastrozle week is crazy!

New to TRT, Going with Defy... Protocol thoughts?

Kirk I think your free T % is more like 2.8. At a 300 level T 2% of that would be 6. In any event you will be in good care with Defy. Be sure and have them include thyroid testing as well. Symptoms mimic each other in many ways. Good luck and welcome.

New labs w/ protocol + symptoms

Have you ever tested your ferritin? Low ferritin is a cause as well as blood pressure meds, especially beta blockers (metoprolol), diabetic meds, anti seizure and anti depressants, and so on. Any surgery can put stress on your system as well. Extreme stress can also be a cause. Read thru the...

New labs w/ protocol + symptoms

Meanbreen your Reverse T3 is too high. Needs to be less than 15. You need a T3 med like cytomel to decrease it. What type of thyroid med are you on? Here are 2 very good descriptions and how to treat it: https://www.restartmed.com/reverse-t3/ https://stopthethyroidmadness.com/reverse-t3/

Optimal vs Normal Thyroid Levels for All Lab Tests & Ages

    Low T because of obesity?

shayima since you are going to a health clinic, I would have them run a FULL thyroid panel as well as testosterone. Yes your testosterone is low and will prevent weight loss but, with what you have been thru you may be hypothyroid as well since it is well studied that unable to lose weight is a...

Moving from M-W-F Test Cyp to daily injections. How to calculate dose?

Your symptoms may not be testosterone related. Your numbers look perfect so, no reason for testosterone to cause your symptoms IMHO. If it were me, I would get a full thyroid panel done with T4, T3, FT3 and RT3 at a minimum. Here is good comparison of symptoms of low thyroid and low...

New Thyroid labs-does not look good

Yes according to Dr. Childs who has treated many patients with high RT3. While taking the T3 med cytomel, you can work on the underlying cause of it being high to begin with. Your RT3 and T3 will slowly be corrected. Read this carefully......I would start taking Cytomel as quickly as I could...

altec here is a good post by one of our moderators the great Vince that covers a lot of ground on T4 and T3 dosing. I think you have a thyroid problem that's causing your symptoms. Your T4 is very low and so is your T3. See this link on what is normal thyroid levels and optimal levels: https://www.restartmed.com/normal-thyroid-levels/ Dr Childs also has a great explanation of ALL thyroid symptoms. They...
