Innovations in Testosterone Therapy in Men Treated for Prostate Cancer

Madman: thanks for that additional info. I know that Dr. Morgentaler does prescribe testosterone for men (like me) with diagnosed prostate cancer, and his book "Testosterone for Life" describes case studies. I had a telemed session with Dr. Morgentaler, and he didn't have any concerns about my...

Innovations in Testosterone Therapy in Men Treated for Prostate Cancer

The nice thing is that it’s pretty easy to get on TRT outside the usual medical channels, with the ready availability of online clinics. I really wonder whether it makes sense to say that any diagnosis of prostate cancer, however high the Gleason score, means TRT is off limits. Either...

Innovations in Testosterone Therapy in Men Treated for Prostate Cancer

Hey Jed - we certainly must be brothers! Dr. Scholz is my oncologist, and I did a Zoom consultation with Dr. Morgentaler. I'm a Gleason 7, but with a small percentage of pattern 4. You're very lucky to be Gleason 6, which some doctors hardly regard as true cancer (never becomes metastatic)...

Innovations in Testosterone Therapy in Men Treated for Prostate Cancer

Madman - thanks very much for sharing this. I'm sort of a poster child for (1) being diagnosed with prostate cancer and (2) going on testosterone replacement therapy. Even though my T levels are quite high (over 1500), my PSA (a marker of prostate cancer) has hardly budged during the three...

Injection Site Question: Ventral Gluteal Muscle vs. Tensor Fascia Latae

Thanks Jim. Fred: I just heard that all the cool kids are pinning the VG, and I want to be a cool kid. Seriously, I've never had any problem with the delts, and can even alternate arms. But then you hear about scar tissue building up. Maybe not an issue with shallow IM injections using a 27g...

Injection Site Question: Ventral Gluteal Muscle vs. Tensor Fascia Latae

Based on recommendations on this site, I decided to switch from deltoid muscle shallow IM injections (27g 1/2 in.) to the ventral gluteal muscle. Easier said than done. I looked at lots of photos/videos to try to pinpoint the VG muscle, and thought I had it dialed in to the muscle that's right...

    Testosterone use in Prostate Cancer

Thanks for sharing this presentation, Madman! As both a T user and someone on active surveillance for prostate cancer (Gleason 3+4), it's certainly reassuring. I'm working with both a top endocrinologist and a top prostate oncologist, and so far they both approve my remaining on TRT despite...

Botox Penile Injections for Erectile Dysfunction

If I understand the study correctly (just skimmed), the test subjects didn't respond to either PDE5 inhibitors (e.g., Cialis, Viagra) or Trimix. So they are truly "hard cases." And yet 40% of them responded to Botox - and for months. I'm in the camp of (1) PDE5 inhibitors no longer work well...

A *** porn star talks about his journey with Trimix to penile implants

I've been using Trimix for less than a year, and I've found I can actually decrease the dosage over time. I think that's thanks to Trimix getting me over the psychological hurdle of erectile dysfunction. Once my confidence was back, my libido and natural function kicked backed in. (Of course TRT...

A *** porn star talks about his journey with Trimix to penile implants

Such a courageous guy. He's done a real public service by being so unflinchingly honest (and graphic) about his journey. In my own case, at age 67, I'm in the camp of: (1) PDE5 inhibitors such as Cialis are no longer a sure bet, and (2) Tri-Mix, despite the hassles of using it, has been an...

TRT after treatment for prostate cancer

Doug: I got on TRT after being diagnosed with prostate cancer (Gleason 7) at age 65 and going on active surveillance for it. I became convinced after reading books by Dr. Morgentaler (Testosterone for Life) and Dr. Friedman (The New Testosterone Treatment) that testosterone supplementation not...

    TRT after prostatectomy

I'm on TRT despite a prostate cancer diagnosis (before TRT). No surgery or radiation for me - just doing active surveillance. I highly recommend it. I think the majority of enlightened urologists and oncologists are in the Dr. Morgentaler camp. My PSA levels have remained steady while on TRT.

Has anyone used PT-141 to improve erections?

Like Nelson said, the onset of the PT-141 erections is unpredictable. I recall taking a PT-141 dose in the morning, initially feeling nothing, and then, 7.5 hours later, sitting in a restaurant with my girlfriend and getting an erection that made it impossible to stand up without drawing...

What are your experiences with PT-141? (as an aphrodisiac)

The slight nausea with PT-141 is trivial in my experience - very transitory. The harder (no pun intended) aspect for me with PT-141 is the uncertain timing of onset. Trimix is a superior option, in my experience. There's no uncertainty about timing: 5 minutes later, and you're ready to go...

    TRT increasing blood pressure?

I'm taking Irbesartan for elevated blood pressure - the lowest prescription dose of 75 mg. There's some evidence Irbesartan is good for erection health (Effect of irbesartan on erectile function in patients with hypertension and metabolic syndrome - PubMed). It makes sense, as lower BP = less...

sulphorophane for cancer and longer healthspan

Fernando - I'm a big fan of sulphoraphane. Google Rhonda Patrick and her interviews with Dr. Jed Fahey, who's the leading expert. As you note, as good as eating broccoli is, eating the sprouts is even more healthful. And they're kinda fun to sprout.

What are your experiences with PT-141? (as an aphrodisiac)

Are you sure about that .25 mg figure? That would be a trivial amount to T. Maybe you mean .25 ml, equivalent to 50 mg of testosterone cypionate, twice a week?

What are your experiences with PT-141? (as an aphrodisiac)

Agree that PT-141 is quite unpredictable. I've never had the nausea, but it usually takes 6.5 hours to kick in, so timing is a bear. The downside for me is constant nocturnal erections which interfere with sleep. For some odd reason, the PT-141 effect for me is strongest when I'm asleep.

Starting cypionate tomorrow - needle size?

Excellent advice, thank you! I'll try that next time.

Starting cypionate tomorrow - needle size?

Totally agree on the easy and painless part. But you guys don't see some of the oil dribbling out when you withdraw the needle? Maybe I need to press the needle in a bit firmer?

Starting cypionate tomorrow - needle size?

I've been following Nelson's shallow IM protocol, using a 27g 1/2 inch needle to inject 80 mg of testosterone cypionate twice a week into the deltoid muscle. One thing I've noticed: often some of the T cyp dribbles out of the deltoid after I withdraw the needle, which implies the T cyp isn't...
