Looking forward to hearing more details and maybe even reading this study. But the data highlighted in this press release are most intriguing.

Gave this paper a first glance.
Some reactions:
-"Men receiving exogenous TTH may experience side effects,
including elevations in E2 levels." Is a totally expected response to exogenous TTH - elevation in E2 levels - a "side effect?"
-Speaking of side effects.... I believe no mention is made...
Good Morning,
When I started I read various things about the half-lives of TCyp and TEnan. 7 days. 10 days. One has a 1 day longer half life because of the longer ester.
I am aware that half-lives of all medications vary depending upon the patient. But a good estimate has clinical value for...
I'll add my experience to this topic. I have NEVER been so emotional, for lack of a better word, since I've been on TRT. I cry at certain songs and even professional wrestling (see Flair vs Shawn Michaels).
No change in irritability. I remain quite irritable.
Cause? Could it be E2...
Thanks! Looking forward to reading reference #38 - subtitled "A warning to endocrinologists."
Cataceous - I am not picking on you.. I promise!! But regarding emotionalism, as it were, I tried searching on that as well and had no luck finding data. Definitely nothing involving emotionality in...
Thank you!
As you are the responder...I suspect that what I am looking for simply doesn't exist.
But, to extract, in one study about 85% of hypogonadism is secondary. And in secondary hypogonadism in only about 10% could a specific etiology be identified.
As far as the treatment guidelines...
Thanks for replying.
But I should have been more specific given the topic here is "Testosterone Side Effect Management." To rephrase can someone point me to any studies regarding any relationship between estradiol (relative to testosterone) and gynecomastia... in men taking exogenous...
Good Afternoon,
You wrote " in susceptible individuals it may contribute to gynecomastia. " Do you know if there are any studies regarding this issue? I ask because I may be grappling with this issue.
Thanks
I often find myself giving advise to guys who are started on TRT who have not had any sort of thoughtful evaluation of the etiology of their hypogonadism.
The question comes up of whether or not to recommend an MRI of the pituitary. As someone whose hypogonadism may be due to a pituitary...
Regarding edema - i have heard anecdotally that Testosterone Enanthate causes less edema than Testosterone Cypionate (likely based on the carrier oils used for each in the US ... sesame seed oil for TE and cotton seed oil for TC. )
Madman - Could you share a bit of knowledge, on a technical level, why LabCorp's Direct Free Testosterone test is so lousy. What leads to it's inaccuracy? Does its mismeasurement tend to overstate the Free Testosterone or vice-versa.
Thanks!
Its weird how I ended up on enanthate.... I didn't include this in my story but once educated I found myself explaining to my endocrinologist that "Xyosted" was just Testosterone Enanthate 50mg or 75mg or 100mg with a 1/2 inch 27g needle to be given once a week subQ. The only difference was...
No worries...! Finally so far so good. I seem to not need much of a dose to feel better. I'm on 120mg IM of Testosterone Enanthate (split twice). No side effects. Blood test results are fine - Total Testosterone ~1200ng/dl. Free Testosterone ~ 20ng/dl.
As to the lack of T Enth or T Cyp not...
I've read many similar stories of guys crashing their ferritin because of frequent donations. Usually they report that the crash makes them feel like crap physically and mentally. Did this happen to you at all?
Wow. This is an illuminating and disheartening discussion. HCT is the most basic of labs! Yet such differences. If I had to bet here I'd go with LabCorps #s . I am not liking the arrogance of this hematologist.
@Nelson Vergel - Curious as to your take on the OP's diverging HCT results.
@Nelson Vergel @Dr Justin Saya MD - Gentlemen, I have Dr. Valcour at LabCorp waiting to hear back from me. This might be an opportunity to have some impact. Do either or both of you have any interest in helping me draft a response to him or simply doing a 3 person letter? You've both been...
Contact from Dr. Vancour:
Dr. Cohen,
LabCorp offers a great variety of methods for measuring total and free testosterone. The attached document lists all of our many options available. Please note that you can find more information about these panels through our online directory of services...
By the way - I am trying to figure out how best to respond to Dr. Vancour. I am speaking to some state of the art TRT providers (in my view) on other forums and gathering opinions. If Dr. Vancour is receptive would you be interested in communicating directly with him?
Thank you so much for the look behind the curtain! You have precluded me from having a potentially embarrassing talk with a PHD in Biochemistry. Despite my being convinced now that this is not a mislabeling per se it nevertheless is a source of confusion for scores of patients and providers. I...
I've been irked for a year by the apparent incorrect unit usage for the particular Free Testosterone test mentioned above. I periodically reach out to whatever relevant executive I can find. No luck for months until the below correspondence. In brief his explanation doesn't hold up in my view...
I'm going for my first blood testing since starting injectable testosterone. I am also taking HCG, at a low dose (the lowest?) 250iu twice a week.
I'm going to get a 17-Hydroxyprogesterone level given some of the work (posted in this forum) as it possibly being a reasonable gauge of...
Cataceous,
I appreciate your stating that the half-life of T. Enanthate is about 5 days. And that 4 weeks is a decent interval to get blood levels after a change in dosing. This will assuage my impatience a bit and make life easier otherwise.
I've read a lot of things in less reliable places...
I essentially just started. You can read my story here, posted last night. Introduction From A Fairly New Member - Brooklyn NY
But I have been on a low dose, 40mg SubQ twice a week. Plus HCG 250iu twice a week. Blood tests in about two weeks.
My anxiety and depression had been pretty much...
As an anxiety and depression sufferer I am very sympathetic. I am an impatient mofo and waiting those 6 weeks for T levels is way too long. But it must be done. My current MD told me to get them at 4 weeks but I know from the half-life of the Testosterone Enanthate that 4 weeks is too soon...
