    Interpreting Thyroid Labs

Jackie - the anti-TPO will give you the definitive answer. Be sure to ask for Vitamin D too, as just getting that above 50 could improve your TSH, at least that's seems to be what the studies are saying. Vitamin D seems to impact everything. I posted this yesterday...

    Interpreting Thyroid Labs

Ok, same as 18mg dose in ON OPTI-WOMEN multivitamin. Donating blood every 2 months probably removes more iron than typical menstrual cycle over same time. So you may even need more than every-other-day. Just guessing though. Paying attention to blood work will be only way to tell. But I...

Absolutely - I'm learning a lot too. Giving blood every 2 months could explain it. Maybe you would need it. How much iron do you take, and how often?

Finally Got my Full Panel...Way Low Testosterone

Yup, I understand why you posted them now. It all makes sense, but I still think your doctor is an idiot for prescribing synthroid, when your levels did not indicate you have an issue. Look at this thread. https://www.excelmale.com/forum/showthread.php?6620-Interpreting-Thyroid-Labs Guys...

    Interpreting Thyroid Labs

So I was right - nice! ;) I'm guessing taking an iron supplement 2 hours before having blood drawn might have everything to do with it. LOL You mentioned getting lots of sun, so it will be interesting to see where Vitamin D is. It would explain absorption issues. I'm still guessing you are...

Finally Got my Full Panel...Way Low Testosterone

How tall are you? Also - I missed you mention you are on 50mcg synthroid. How long have you been taking that? When were you diagnosed and what did those labs look like? Your anti-tpo is low - so I'm confused why you would be on that. Were you taking synthroid on 3/1/16 when these labs were...

Finally Got my Full Panel...Way Low Testosterone

What do you weigh? How old are you? What is your typical BP? Your eGFR was slightly low - which led me to investigate. Here is explanation of test. I think high protein could cause this too. https://labtestsonline.org/understanding/analytes/gfr/tab/test Your CBC shows low RBCs & high...

Finally Got my Full Panel...Way Low Testosterone

Those are some interesting numbers. Hopefully some more experienced people chime in here, but here are the things that stick out to me. Glucose of 101 (70-100) is not that bad even if you were fasting. Pretty normal for the "fast food" diet you mention. It should be a wake up call to try to...

Factors Involved in Deciding Best Testosterone Option

I use a local doctor that doesn't know much about TRT, but luckily is willing to learn. But if that wasn't the case I'd consider lots of options. I think Prime Body has a branch in Philadelphia. And they often advertise 1st consult is free. I'd talk to both, get full costs, and even consider...

Study - Low Vitamin D linked to Low HDL Cholesterol

Do Vitamin D Levels Affect Cholesterol? (links at bottom) Higher vitamin D levels appear to be associated with higher total cholesterol levels and higher HDL cholesterol levels, according to a new study presented at the American College of Cardiology's (ACC) 65th Annual Scientific Sessions.1...

On TRT for a year now. I feel like its time for a change......

Enlarged prostate, BPH would be the concern. PSA (prostate specific antigen) is something every guy on TRT should be checking to make sure they don't have prostate cancer. Its a pretty standard test at age 47, like you and me. Defy will definitely check it.

Lab Results - Defy consult, what to expect?

Shan - did you ask for all of those tests, or did your doctor proactively order them. I've never seen that level of detailed blood work before. I'm wondering what my doctor will say if I ask for all of those. I feel fortunate that he agreed to do the full TRT recommended blood work.

Lab Results - Defy consult, what to expect?

I'm not completely sure what it means but he is pulling it from page 2 of your labs above. "Apolipoprotein E" it says 3/4 under the "High Risk" column. This is what wikipedia says about it. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apolipoprotein_E

My current hunt for TRT, Help!

What is normal range on your DHEA-S test. It was too small to read. Based on range I googled, it seemed high. Can anyone explain why it would be, since you are not supplementing any DHEA? Would high protein intake cause that? DHEA-S = 361

My current hunt for TRT, Help!

How long have you been taking synthroid? I'm guessing you started on lower dose than current 137mg. What was your TSH when first diagnosed? I have a feeling 137 will be too high of a dose when you take it properly on an empty stomach. Be careful with that much protein. I've heard a...

On TRT for a year now. I feel like its time for a change......

Chris & CoastWatcher have much more experience than me, so take their advice regarding baseline. My decision to get baseline again was related to going on a new medicine, and just wanting to see how my numbers change. Many people have low or high SHBG, or Estradiol-sensitive, but the analysis...

My current hunt for TRT, Help!

OK, here is summary of noteworthy numbers: PSA 0.7 (0.1 3.9) - good Glucose 85 - good Vitamin D 41 (30-100) ok, but 50+ is better and 65-80 optimal. Uric Acid 7.7 (2.0 - 6.9) any symptoms of gout? I'm guessing not at this slightly elevated level. Creatinine 1.3 (0.7-1.2) Do you take creatine...

This YouTube Video Shows How a Doctor Can Mess You Up

Doctors hate the "negotiated rates". Just look at Defy, and others not willing to deal with insurance. $2K+/year for just TRT therapy, labs, meds. That doesn't cover physical therapy, surgery for injury, mental health, etc. Just like Defy, most doctors aren't willing to work for medicare's...

This YouTube Video Shows How a Doctor Can Mess You Up

Re-ride - I love it. Not saying I agree 100%, but you make some good points. Realize the Federal government pays over 50% of all hospital bills. So either way taxpayers will always subsidize the hell out of this. And now people making $30K buy $350/mo plan and get $300 monthly tax credit...

TSH stable for 5+ years on 50mcg levothyroxine. Any reason to check Reverse T3?

Chris - I'd say my only real original symptom was lethargy since age 25 (not crippling), and slight weight gain (10 lbs of weight in gut - othewise skinny). I bumped up to 75mcg in 2007 or 2008, and instantly dropped 10 pounds in 4 weeks without changing diet, or workout routine. But TSH...

Hudddazzz - 500mg of what??? Did you ever check FSH & LH prior to starting your 13 week cycle? Your best bet is probably to talk to the pros at Defy Medical. I have no idea if or to what extent you may have damaged your endocrines system with that regimen. Here is the blood work you need...

TSH stable for 5+ years on 50mcg levothyroxine. Any reason to check Reverse T3?

I've been steady on 50mcg levothyroxine for 5+ year now. TSH is always in the 1.0 - 1.3 range, so i haven't even checked Free T3, or Free T4 in last 5 years, and I've never had Reverse T3 checked. I'm going for blood work on 4/13 and it will include TSH, Free T3 & Free T4. Does anyone...
