A huge thank you for this information. I had a Urolift 3+ years ago. It has been helpful but not a cure and there's the possibility a 2nd procedure may be needed. The newer procedures sound much less physically traumatic than the Urolift.
I'm 79 and I've been on TRT for 11 yrs. My PCP has warned me about cardio risk and my urologist has reassured me that, for me, stopping TRT is a greater CV risk than continuing TRT. Doing my own research, the work of Dr. Abraham Morgentaler is very informative. He focuses on the health of the...
You're absolutely right. I've recently learned that not only does TRT not increase CV event risk, as my urologist told me last week, taking me off TRT after many years and at my age would significantly increase the risk of a CV event.
Even though my health is excellent, I'm aware that I've...
I've been on TRT 9 years and Metformin 4-5 years and total T has been very stable, with no noticeable change. It may be, in part, that the Metformin dose is relatively low, 250mg 3x per day.
Huge thanks for posting this interview. I just turned 79, been on TRT for 10 years and it has been a life-changer for me and I give TRT credit for the very high quality of life I have and have had these last 10 years.
At the moment, I'm dealing with a new PCP (1 year) who thinks I should come...
I've had multiple cystoscopes from different urologists. The experience has ranged from "OMG, the pain is too much!" to "Ummm, that wasn't so bad". Always, the cysto's have been with lidocaine. My personal experience has been that it very much depends on the urologist and whatever the small...
Flomax did help before the procedure but there were days and weeks when I was miserable. I would try to keep the dose at .4 mg but often had to double the dose, but at .8mg there were side effects. My BPH symptoms seemed to cycle for unknown reasons, some days, weeks were OK, others were not OK...
My doc is "OK" with the results but it is possible that he was hoping for somewhat better results. For me, it is a definite improvement. Before the procedure, urination was difficult, slow, no stream. It was very common for me to have a strong urge to pee and being almost unable to initiate...
I had a Urolift in Feb., about a 20 minute procedure, 6 "staples", fairly uncomfortable, about the level of a root canal. Went home w/o a catheter. The first week was difficult, painful urination, but the procedure has provided moderate relief. I usually start to pee within 10 seconds, with a...
Thanks, I'll try 23 & 25's. I'm hoping to spring back before 2 weeks but I know it takes time, that 1 shot won't get me back to where I was. Should be great game tomorrow, A&M vs. Ark.
Just did 1st self-injection, 4 months & 2 weeks after the last pellet insertion, and after a long and frustrating process. My total T was 414 two weeks ago and it took another 2 weeks for everything to fall in place. I assume I'm low 300's now. Been very sluggish the last 10 days, physically...
Unfortunately, I won't be surprised by bad attitudes and protocols, but have to check this option, then the Doc. in Dallas. It could be the road I have to take to Defy. At least I can now recognize a poorly designed protocol. Yes, I do have a bad after-taste from 2+ years on pellets and more...
Received response today from primary-care doctor about my concerns on E2 levels and not wanting to continue with the urologist who wants to continue pellets. Doc referred me to a local Endocrinologist. Initially, I was surprised, but now see it as a step in the right direction. But, I'm...
1Draw, thank you for the great input. Honestly, I've had no negative effects from the pellet modality except for bruising, swelling, and the inability to sit or lie on the cheek for 10-14 days. I didn't have the ups & downs except the time they let my go 4 mos., 3 weeks. Other than that, the...
