Madman - I appreciate your post. Thank you! If I wanted to use HCG with my current protocol and not elevate the numbers. How much should I decrease the Test Cyp injections by? I wanted to inject about 700 IU's to 1000 IU's of HCG a week split into 2 injections around 3.5 days each.

Next time you do labs, I would run c-reactive protein. Because one doc said check for bleeding, you feel like something is wrong and ibuprofen seemed to help.

It's a cheap test and will tell you if you are dealing with any inflammation or infections.

You need to look into this.

Again once you get your ferritin/iron stores healthy it will drive up your hematocrit.

Most would aim for 100-150 ng/mL.

Optimal ferritin is 100-150??? I just donated with mine right at 100....

I appreciate the post and your insight. Is a CK/CPK test similar to a c-reactive protein test? I've had a few CK/CPK tests about 2 years ago.

As recently as this weekend I have been experiencing lightheadedness, dizzy spells upon physical exertion, dehydration (labs testing confirm), painful muscle cramps and have seen a reduction in hematocrit and hemoglobin, likely do to having two phlebotomies inside of a month of each other because my endo wanted my hemoglobin closer to 16 before switching back to every 2-month phlebotomies schedule.

A week after the phlebotomy hematocrit was 50.1% and this weekend 48%, going in the opposite direction. I don't need a ferritin test to know what's going on here. More iron added to my daily dosing has started to eliminated these symptoms.

Strangely my weight has gone back upwards since the last phlebotomy.

My point is all of these symptoms are going on with normal ferritin and normal iron levels.

Just wanted to update this thread.

I did see a GI doctor early last week. I described all the symptoms I was experiencing. Inconsistent blood in the stools. No stomach pain or tightness. I did tell him about my unusual bowel movements sometimes 3-4 days apart.

He said from all the symptoms you're explaining to me... it sounds like severe constipation. Causing an episode of blood in the stool here and there. Since you've had no abdominal pain or tightness I really don't believe you have anything critical. Though it wouldn't hurt to get colonoscopy for the first time. He said you are approaching 45 years old. I said what about the unusually low iron levels? Low ferritin? And also Hematocrit and Hemoglobin? I said it's the lowest ever since being on TRT? He said we can also put a scope down your throat to your stomach as well. I can try to see if I can find anything unusual. Possibly something going on in which won't allow Iron to digest?

My PCP just wanted to see what the GI doctor would indicate. It seems the GI doctor isn't alarmed at all. He told me to take a prescription laxative in which he said I want you to use this every day until you start having bowel movements daily. Once you start having bowel movements daily.... reduce the dose to every 48 hours. He said there's no reason for you to not have a bowel movement at least once every 48 hours if not every day.

It's almost like he's suggesting this GI issue will heal on it's own after the constipation is resolved. I truly don't feel constipated though. But I'm confused... what does this have anything to do with the digestion of Iron? And with minimal traces of blood in the stool... how come the Hematocrit and Hemoglobin are so low? I have an appointment to see my PCP again April 12th. Nobody said anything about iron pills or extra lab work??? So I'm sort of stumped where to go now??? Seems like the GI doctor just wants to milk the insurance... remember he wasn't alarmed at all from the symptoms I explained to him.

Where do I go from here? Don't I need extra CBC labs done to see if I'm losing blood anymore? lol Nobody cares lol

I find that most doctors are not well versed in iron status, you have to see hematologist, the appropriate doctor for the job. Even then you will find the ordinary doctor to be under educated these days.

For the fact that the doctors didn't comment on your iron status is very telling and I think neither are thoroughly educated enough to comment.

That's better than some cocky, arrogant doctor giving you inaccurate information in my opinion.

I once asked my allergist doctor a question, he simply said I don't know and to ask the appropriate doctor until I was satisfied with the answer.

Respect!

Systemlord - Thanks for the post. I was very surprised my Hematologist just brushed me off and said... see me in 6 months. He wasn't really concerned at all. When I first met him he was really down to earth and actually cared. I don't know what his deal was the other day? I did message my PCP yesterday to see if she wanted to run more tests or to see me in person... she hasn't responded yet.

You never want to interact with any doctor towards the end of the day, early morning is the best time for conversations with your doctor. Early morning hours we are at our best, later in the day people are worn out and want to go home after a long day at work.

Also our medical system is a sick care system, doctors wait for disease to strike, then offer treatment, so your hematologist waiting for an acute condition before springing into action.

It could also be a matter of insurance coverage, you're the product, your insurance company is the customer who pays the bulk of the bills.

I wish our medical system was more proactive, preventative.

Systemlord - I agree with you 100%. When my PCP ran some Iron labs in early 2020 there was an error with the Iron... Iron Saturation and Ferritin. The iron saturation said 63% in the blood. Everything was sky high. I said... to my PCP I know these are faulty labs. She freaked out and referred me to this Hematologist guy. Because of Covid we had a video session... and he seemed pretty down to earth and cool. He ran like 7 blood tests to see if there was some sort of blood disorder or disease.... all 7 came back negative. I told him it was an original faulty lab that caused this. He did prescribe me 8 months worth of baby aspirin being on TRT... and told me to take it. But I never did. If I can avoid medication.... I do my best to never get on anything. I even don't like taking the T4 Thyroid 25mcg a day. I mean I think my thyroid could be dialed in better... of course that's another issue. Always like reading your posts here! Thanks for all your knowledge.
