Confused about my Prostate issues and TRT

I posted something a while back concerning this right after starting TRT. After the second shot I started getting some inflammation in the prostate/bladder area. I was going every week to get a shot. I asked the guy at the clinic to reduce the dose. That seemed to help for the next two shots, but then the inflammation come back last week.

I called the clinic here in DFW that does my TRT and he is no help, I really have no trust in this clinic especially when I called and he told me I should go to Urgent care or my Primary care doctor to have it checked. He said they can't do much there about stuff like that.

I did go to Urgent care last Thursday and they did a Urine test, CBC, PSA and all came back normal and no infection, so I don't know what is causing this to happen. My Total Testosterone was 945 and my Estridol was kind of high too, but he didn't say anything about how to fix it. Anyways the Urgent care doctor went ahead and treated me like I had an infection just in case it was deep in the prostate, he said there is some gray area when it may not show anything on a Urine test

I don't think that I should be going in every week for a shot, I questioned about going every 10 to 14 days and he said well that may be a good idea. I wish I could get this doctor or assistant to guide me on what to do versus having to ask for things. This guy I see isn't even the doctor.

So I think I'm going to stop going to this clinic, I feel like they just want my money every week. I do feel lot better when I am taking the shots mentally and physically, I hate to stop taking them all together.

This last time it was quite painful and honestly it felt like I was having a constant orgasm due to the pressure. I felt like I needed to masterbate in order to relieve the pressure, but I knew it would be sore to do it. I know its TMI, but just being honest.

Am I the only one that has this issue here? Anybody have an answer or comment? I guess it must be BPH or something and the shots just irritate it. I never had this issue before TRT therapy. I'm going to make an appointment with a Urologist next week if possible. I skipped the shot I was supposed to get this past Friday and am not sure I will go back to this clinic for further treatment.

I started TRT two years ago and 6 weeks after I was diagnosed with prostatitis. For two years I was treated for it and now they say it's BPH. I just posted yesterday about it. One doc told me to stop TRT another said to go ahead. So I have no answers but same problem.

Hi Mike,
yeah I was reading your post and sounded like same issue. I just didn't want to Hijack your thread with my problems. So yeah I'm trying to figure out the same thing. The folks at the testosterone clinic want me to continue, but I believe their interest is more for the $ versus my health. I'm going to hold off on it for a while and see what my numbers do, If I start back it will be somewhere else like Defy Medical or real endocrinologist. The doctor that runs these few clinics is a pain specialist doctor, so not sure how he is an expert in testosterone.

I go to a urologist. Get my second opinion from one as well. And as I said two different answers. I would like to know for sure if the TRT will cause me more grief. I read yes at some research and no on others. That's how I found this site.

when I started my own trt, I knew the day I walked out of the office with my first rx that this are of medicine was not his forte. I honestly believe we need to be vigilant about our care and feel very comfortable with our providers given that it is important to get second opinions. Medicine is so specialized today. I was in an appt with a Dr about my ed issue in our conversation when the topic veered into hrt territory, his response was " that is not a problem I treat, something else is going on with you" Wow...........yeah , I think I really want to stay with his yo yo, right?

I have seen all kinds of doctors in the past 25 years due to my many health challenges (that I have mostly overcome). I have met super smart doctors who have no personality or bed side manners and I have met the nice ones who really do not know much more than what you can research on the Internet. And a few times you meet the super smart doctor who is also a great communicator and open minded to try new things. A doctor who makes you feel comfortable about your talking about your erections and/or sexual dysfunction issues.

I tell guys that when you do meet one of those rare ones, treat them well and do not take it for granted. Consider yourself a lucky man.

The best way to really find out if your prostate is enlarged is to get a prostate ultrasound. It is fast and easy but you need to see an urologist. By the way, what was your PSA?

so guys, are their any treatments that might counteract the BPH side-effect of TRT? I don't know if BPH is what I have, it seems back to normal since I haven't had a shot in about 11 days. I still am going to visit a Urologist soon before I start back up. I'm going to stay off it until December and basically start over with another TRT doctor, more than likely Defy.

I had the prostatitis and BPH issues before starting TRT, and now I am on the daily Cialis for ED and BPH, so the insurance will cover it, and insurance is fighting back. Crazy. I did notice the same symptoms of prostatitis before I started the cialis so i guess i was having the same issues as you were hondadude. One doc told me it was because I was not ejaculating enough, not sure if there is any merit to that.

@Clint.............there is merit to that point your Dr made about ejaculation. First of al there is no real known cause for prostatitis, also referred Chronic Non Bacterial Prostatitis, NBP. Numerous studies have been performed, with a general concensus being the " how many times you ejaculate will determine the frequency of NBP, " All guys should walk the dog whether in a normal sexual relationship or in the presence of the favorite video. So, go do the deeed !
Duane

@Bruin, I had never heard that except for the doctor who said that and then now you. Interesting. I had just dismissed it as being the "normal routine" and figured with the ED issues with my low T that is what he meant. You said we should all "walk the dog" but you didn't say how often you recommended or were maybe advised by a doc.

@Clint.............well, that's where the distinction of how many times a week should a guy ejaculate is not defined. You will hear normal sexual activity.....what is normal? Typically it means a couple of times a week. Hey when everything is going well with life, with work, our regimen, a couple of times a week should be good, sometimes that is not always the case.

Sometimes it is ....what guy is gonna complain about more than a couple of times a week?
Duane

Complain about more than a couple of times a week, heck no! I'd take that any day. I'd take daily if possible whether that was sex or getting off on my own. Make sense on the healthy prostate part though.
