@ ironman. Yes, I also believe it's the low E2 also that is causing the lack of sex urge along with low free T. Trying to correct the problem at this time. Was on TRT 5 years ago but I do not know what the exact test levels were at that time. I used a topical formula (androgel, etc.), did not...
@ fireater49. Yes I agree, just living 52 years of life will take its toll. Like everyone else, I have seen some hard times also, and taking my weight down to 128 probably put a lot of extra stress on things. It's great having low body fat at that weight, but i don't think it is worth the...
Thanks for replying VC. To be honest, I have to review the functions of the Thyroid in order to acquaint myself with the tests you mentioned, but will see if those tests could be done. The trick is to get my MD to write a script for them, I don't think many doctors like to be told what tests to...
@ Kelly.....Yes you are correct, the range is 30-100 ng/ml as per Labcorp so I am on the low side of normal. Plan to incorporate a few strategies to lower the SHBG....
increase caloric intake and bring body weight up, I think this alone will help a great deal.

Only Zinc I am taking is in the form of a "natural" liquid multi - vit/min supplement (It only gives me about 25% of RDA for zinc however, and I don't take the supplement every day.) So I will look into further zinc supplementation.
Thanks for your help !
Hi Nelson, thanks for replying. Yeah, the values for the total test is natural. I guess at 52 years old I am lucky in that respect. I agree with you that the most likely problem(s) is/are high SHBG and/or low Estro. Was doing some research.....I think my low body weight 129 lbs (BMI), may have a...
Been struggling with lack of sex drive/urge for years. Weird thing about it is that I have no problem with erections (morning, etc); when I am actually with another person, no performance problems. I just don't have any desire or sex urge at all; no urgency to ejaculate after a prolonged time of...
This is a good thing. I always get an e-mail directly from my Lab (Labcorp) regarding blood test results. I don't trust my doctor reporting results to me.
I would imagine that when values are "borderline" or just "minimally" out of normal, many physicians will just sweep it under the rug and...
I am assuming that for most members here at excel male, including myself; our primary priority in life revolves around our physical health and well being. In addition to physical health, I believe cognitive health is also part of the whole picture. I came across an advertisement in Nat. Geo...
Just had my BF tested using the Bod Pod, which is supposed to be the "Gold Standard" of BF testing. The following link will give you locations where testing is available:

What was beneficial for me was getting my weight down (body fat). I guess I'm pretty lucky being 52 y.o and having a natural testosterone level @719(I am not on TRT), but even at that level, at 5'6",155 lbs and 21% body fat; I felt lousy. I am now down to 128 lbs, 14-14.7% body fat. My sex drive...
Just a quick follow up and a word about Tanita "bathroom" scale / body comp accuracy. Got my Bod Pod test done yesterday at St. Lukes Med Cntr. Results were 14.4 % Went home and used my very old Tanita body comp scale to take a measurement .....result in "normal" mode.......14.5% I was...
For anyone who is interested in getting their body fat composition tested via Bod Pod analysis in the NY City metro area, here are a couple of leads.
I understand that this device is highly reliable and is actually used at the NFL Combine for body comp testing:

@robs2nd75....Did some quick research....only fairly recent link is from live science web site (2012) concerning a study of older men (70-88 y.o). It specifically mentions "The higher the levels of free testosterone, the greater the risk of prostate cancer" (in paragraph 10). It also mentions...
@ Daniel.... My rest day usually consists of stretching (my hamstrings are as tight as a drum) and some walking. I do supplement my workouts with a pre and a post workout formula.
Hi SoCalSurfer. Looks like you are well on your way of keeping track of your input and output like I do. I think you would like the software program I use. It's called Calorie King www.calorieking.com. You enter your height, weight, activity level, age, etc. Then you simply input all your meal...
Only sure fire way to lose is to calorie count. It is very difficult to estimate how many calories you are taking in without accurate weighing and measuring of food. Sure you can "eat healthy", but you can go over your calorie limits eating broiled chicken and veggies also.....result....weight...
Yes. I agree, sometimes when I am on a weight maintenance diet I find the next day I STILL lose weight, but usually on the days I weight train, I will gain the next. Very much a hard gainer. Will check out those vids.
I think I will start to ween off of the PCT supplements and see if my T remains as high as it is. Then just stick to the seminal supplements of muscle gain: BCAAS, Protein, Creatine, NO2, etc. Thanks for your input Nelson.
Hi Nelson. Yes, I am referring to Post Cycle Therapy. I have applied androgel in the past, but stopped a long time ago when it stopped producing results.
The supplement I am taking contains the following, I am not sure if my T levels would be as high without them:
Test-Estro Modulator...
Hi Nelson. No, not a runner nor part of the calorie restriction lifespan mvt. But at 5'6" with a small frame, I find that when my weight is below 21 BMI, I am at a desirable % body fat level. Would love to put on more muscle weight. Guess it will just take time to do it properly.
Thanks Gene. Muscle loss is always a concern for me, especially since I keep my BMI under 21. Always have a difficult time developing size and mass so I don't want to lose it.
Curious to find out if anyone is maintaining good testosterone levels by just using PCT type supplements.
I am 52 y.o with a total testosterone reading of 719 ng/dL. Unfortunately estro and free test readings were not taken. I keep my body weight on the low side (BMI-Under 21), in addition to...
Thanks Nelson. This an important test to have done because it ties into another possible problem for those who perform muscular strength exercise. My personal trainer worked me very hard during a training session. About three days later I had my routine blood work done. The results showed that...
