Hey everyone,
I'm new to the forums so firstly apologies if this is the wrong place to post this.
I have recently got into a new relationship and have decided to finally get myself checked out as I had found what I thought was a lump on my left testicle.

From examination of my testicle, it was diagnosed as a moderately large Varicocele. My testosterone was checked at 8pm in the evening and was 9.7nmol/l and the Dr recommended this was retested in the AM to check my morning levels.

Once this was checked, it had increased to 10.2nmol/l but hadn't increased as much as he had hoped - he does however think it could be stemming from the Varicocele which is causing significant discomfort. I am scheduled to have a Varicocele Emobilization procedure in July to remove it.

The biggest symptoms of low T I have been experiencing is low mood, issues with my weight and issues with my erections - I can get them no problem at all, it's the maintaining them that is the issue. Throw in a tight foreskin into the mix and it's not a great combination as I'm sure you can imagine.

Overall, does my symptoms and levels sound like something the Varicocele could be causing?

Regardless if the Varicocele is causing your symptoms, your testosterone levels are low enough to be causing these symptoms, as you’re probably at that threshold where you would start to experience those problems.

I don’t think the doctor you’re currently working with knows what he’s doing because he didn’t check the free testosterone.

At 279 ng/dL, this is hypogonadal territory! Your free testosterone at this level has got to be abysmally low opening yourself up to the diseases of aging!

Your erectile quality is a barometer for your heart, men with erectile dysfunction are at a higher risk for death of all causes and are more likely to suffer cardiovascular death, heart attack, stroke and heart failure.

Would definitely opt for the surgery just keep in mind the small bump in T would never be high enough to get your natty T levels out of the hole!

Your TT 10.2 nmol/L (294.2 ng/dl) is already very low and more importantly your FT would be in the gutter!

*Varicocele is associated with low serum testosterone levels

*the expected improvement of serum testosterone levels has been approximately 90 ng/dL in the most favorable studies

*majority of studies have not demonstrated any significant improvement in hypogonadal symptoms after varicocelectomy

Just wanted to pop an update on this one.
I had my Varicocele embolization on the 17th August and my T was checked again by my consultant around a month and a half later at 8pm at night!! So not sure if it's been tested too quickly after my embolisation and also at the wrong time of night!

I queried this but he still insisted in testing it and it came back as 8.3nmol/l.
I've been referred to an Endocrinologist for further investigation.... just worried sick in all honesty.
