Bacteriostatic water

Hi all,

Sorry for the silly question but I need to ask. I am on TRT and now going to start HCG as well. But here in India it is difficult to find bacteriostatic water. as I have come to know that sterile water can only be used once, so I thought if I can split HCG power 5000IU in 10 parts and use each for injection with sterile water when needed.

could anyone please let me know how long HCG powder stays in good condition once opened?

I Vince thanks for that, could you please confirm how long will it stay good once opened?

So you are asking how long the powder will stay good once the vial has been opened but without mixing?
I've not read anyone doing that. I thought there is substitutes for bacteriostatic water.

Yes, that's what I am asking. I dont know any substitute for bacteriostatic water, and If I use sterile water I can not used the mixed power multiple times, that's why I am thinking to keep it in the power form for long time and use it every time with sterile water.

Opening the sterile vial and removing the contents subjects it to dust bacteria and moisture. Should not be attempted without a glove box and autoclaved tools to transfer to new sterile vials prged with dry air or inert gas. Of course people mishandle street drugs all the time and often get away with it. What is meant by "storing it open"? Assuming that you dump it out on the counter choosing to ignore sterility concerns then stuff it in tubes degradation will begin from that moment and advance rapidly. The correct answer is to discard all product that is not immediately used.

The only substitute I know is Sodium Chloride water, it's the next best thing to use.

If you’re asking how long a powder stays stable after opening but without mixing it with bac water (bacteriostatic water), the answer depends on the specific substance—but in general, exposure to air, moisture, and light can start to reduce its stability over time.

Most unopened powders remain stable until their expiry date, but once opened, it’s best to store them in a cool, dry, and airtight environment to slow degradation. However, unlike solutions prepared with bac water, dry powders don’t have a preservative protecting them from contamination after exposure.

You’re right that there are substitutes for bac water, such as sterile water or saline—but they don’t contain benzyl alcohol, so they don’t prevent bacterial growth and are usually for single-use only.

In practice, people typically avoid storing opened powders for long periods without proper conditions. For safety and effectiveness, it’s always better to follow product-specific guidelines or consult a professional before use.
