Cypionate vs gel testosterone (questions)

Hi:

First of all, I need to say that I'm very grateful this forum. One year ago, here I learnt how to distribute one ampoule of cypionate 250 mg (2 ml) in 4 insulin syringes and how to use them each 3.5 days. This is really a good system to avoid the rollercoaster state produced when using 250 mg each 15 days.

All has been fantastic this year, my polycythemia has reduced a lot and my blood pressure too. I feel fine.

A little (o big) problem appears now because in Spain, where I live, there are many problems with the companies that produce cypionate 250 mg and it is impossible to find them in pharmacies. I'm sure that my endocrinologist is going to change my therapy versus Testogel 50 mg each day.

I have read that Testogel 50mg is applied each one day mainly in the shoulders.

The question is:

How is the comparison (side effects, physical state, sexual drive, etc) in between cypionate 250 mg each 15 days (distributed in 50 mg each 3.5 days) and testosterone in gel 50mg each day???

Next week I'm going to speak with my endocrinologist but first I would like to have some knowledge of these questions.

I repeat that I'm very grateful this forum because I have improved my life this year.

Best wishes.

PD: I say too that this is my 6 year in TRT. The first 4 years I was in Reandron 1000 mg (testosterone undeanoate) each 7 weeks. The last 2 years I've been in Testex 250 mg (cypionate) each 15 days distributed in 50 mg each 3.5 days. Now I think I'm going to change to testogel 50 mg each day.

Everybody responds differently. A lot of people start out on gel and then go to injections because the gel doesn't get their levels high enough, or it works well, then it stops, or the price might be too high, or they get DHT or estradiol side effects, or they get tired of daily applications, or they might worry about transferring it to their spouses, children or pets, etc and they go to injections and love it.

I was the opposite. I started with injections and got tired of IM shots twice a week. I went to Androgel and I love every minute of it. It gets my testosterone levels into the 800-1000 range on 4 pumps and I just feel better on it. My sex drive is higher on gels and I find it easier to deal with than injections.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that you won't know until you try it. They both work well, it just depends if it'll work for you.

It would be nice if we could give you a short, concise answer, but we can't. Topical testosterone failed me miserably, injections of enanthate have delivered a successful protocol. Henry, as noted above, is pleased with Androgel. Give it a good-faith try and see. All the best.

Thank you for your answers.

Henry, what quantity of Androgel do you use per day?

Nobody give an answer but I need some information, please. I've read above that this information is very difficult because each body responds in a different way.

But could it be possible to relate the doses between injected testosterone and gel?. I mean, if I have been using 250 mg of cypionate each 15 days what would it be the equivalent dose in gel per day?

Thanks

I'm sorry I didn't reply. I am prescribed 4 pumps a day but that takes me into 1000 so I do 2 pumps which is around 500-600 or 3 pumps which puts me around 800.

About gel, nobody can tell you. You might be able to absorb it very well and get to 1000 on 2 pumps or you might not absorb well and only get to 300 on 4 pumps. With an injection, there's no absorption issue or anything. You inject 100mg's and you're getting 70mg's of testosterone, no matter what. For Androgel, you can apply 4 pumps, which is 81mg's but who knows what your absorption percentage is....it might be 5%, 8%, 10%, 12% or even 15%.

FWIW I use a compounded T cream at 200mg/ml and I use 1/2 ml per day or 100mg/day. That is about a 1/4 teaspoon or so a day. I am getting results between your 3 and 4 pumps of Androgel and it is a LOT cheaper....

That was going to be an option for me if my insurance didn't cover Androgel. I got tired of needles and thankfully, the gel worked and I hope it continues to. I've heard it stopped woroed for some people after years of use.

My insurances covers it totally so I pay nothing for 2 bottles a month. If that didn't happen, my doc was ready to send me to a compounder.

Thanks everybody but I am not accustomed to the world "pump" in gel context. I only know the quantities in mg. Does pumps mean applications per day???

Here in Spain I think there is not Androgel but there is Testogel in 50 mg per dose. The normal dose prescribed is 50 mg per day. I don't know if this is enough.

Pump is dose or application. Each dose of Androgel is 20.25mg. The recommended starting dose is two pumps or 40.5mg's and the max dose is 4 pumps or 81mg's.
