Hey All,

Great site. I am new here and just started TRT. I did a few searches on here and on the internet but haven't really found an answer. Well found a few answers but none that really seemed to fully answer my question. Any so I was wondering when managing estrogen levels while on TRT is it the T:E ratio that I should look at or is it the actual estrogen number? Any formation that that can be provided would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Question Estrogen like you Question Authority. It's the wise man's approach to life. 20-30 pg/ml is often quoted as ideal. A few prominent specialists believe E2 can go higher in correlation to higher testosterone levels. It's more important to understand how you aromatize, metabolize testosterone, increasing your TRT dose frequency as needed. Checking your E2 while you are feeling particularly well with few symptoms and when symptoms flare will help you target your own ideal range.

There's sometimes a blend of things to E management, like Re-Ride says about symptoms, those are first, testing, and then the ratio, all can be used. It takes some experience to go by symptoms and then that's not always perfect, treating a number on a test isn't too effective, either, that's why I say there's some combination there. I've moved away from the ratio after having tried to use that and not getting good results, for me. We're all different. The closer you can get to mimicing your bodies natural daily rhythm for hormones is usually the best approach to Estrogen management. Not needing an AI is ideal. SHBG is also a real factor to making E tougher to manage.

Hey guys thanks for your replies. I am about a month into TRT. I am getting treated by my urologist. I have spoken to him about levels and he actually does say that he treats the symptoms not the numbers and the numbers are just that "a range". I have spoken to him about estrogen levels and he basically says that is not part of the protocol that he uses but he is will to look at research and if I find anything I should bring it to him. Are any of you not on an AI? Currently .25 ML 2x's a week no HCG or AI. I am 46 years old and not too worries about having children.

LOL I like that very well put. I mean I haven't had symptoms exactly just this is more being proactive in my monitoring

Hey Vince how long have you been on TRT? Besides the wanting children and the aesthetic part of not having testicles reduce in size have you noticed any other benefits adding HCG?

Not speaking for Vince, but there are sound reasons - all to do with backfilling hormonal pathways - that explain why I use HCG. Frankly, I feel nothing from it, but have read enough to know I'm supporting my health by taking it.

Hey CoastWatcher thanks for the reply. Interesting my doctor doesn't prescribe HCG so for me if enough evidence supports the use I need to figure a way to get it prescribed.

I use HCG mainly for a healthy libido, some of ex girlfriends said too healthy of a libido. The lady I'm with now loves it. I've been on TRT for 2 years.

Then again, there are "no free lunches" in such off-label use: anti-HCG antibodies are not uncommon when pharmaceutical grade HCG is used by men, and one can only wonder what other antibodies might develop against HCG preparations that have little quality control in their preparation.

These antibodies tend to persist long after HCG use is discontinued and what effect they might eventually have on one's health is not known.

Do you have any articles you can link to the HCG antibodies? I have never heard about that

You'll want to link that to some studies and bonafide reports because that's brand new information around here, you know, differentiate it from your opinion and fact.

I would very much like to hear more about this as it is news to me. Please, post more.

A case study or paper on antibodies to hCG was published in the 70's or early 80's. I linked it on here last year. IIRC failure of treatment in a few hypogantic men who were initially treated with sucess was discussed. Whatever proof the researcher offered of antibodies was later found suspect.
