DHEA, stress & erections

Not really a question here, just a comment. I've posted several times that I only make 1 change at a time to my protocol. My DHEA was at the low end of normal, which by the way is the way most every hormone is for me...low end of normal. So I started taking DHEA and BAM, no morning erections. For a guy who never had morning wood while having low testosterone, I have to say, I enjoyed waking up to my morning erections. The day after I started taking DHEA, I lost my morning erections and have never gotten them back. Now it's only been maybe a couple weeks, but absolutely no morning wood. I started with .25mg of ultra micronized DHEA from DHEA.com, then cut it in half and have been taking .125mg once a day. I know that's a super low dose, but still no morning wood. I was thinking about stopping, but I got to say, DHEA has done wonders for reducing my anxiety/stress. I'm calm and clear headed all day. I can focus on a project and can handle stress better than when on T alone. As soon as you think you have your body figured out, another twist. For now, I'm going to continue taking it a few more weeks and get my levels. Thanks for reading.

Interesting, I added DHEA/PREG 25mg/50mg and within a week or so morning erections were gone. I bet its been better than a month since I had morning wood.

I also upped my T dose, lowered my HCG dose and added NDT at the same time though

Steelballs - I didn't stop my Cypionate. Still injecting twice weekly at 60mg each.

Vince - I was thinking the same thing, but I can still get an erection when needed and the calming effect is nice. I'm wondering if E2 is elevated, but my main E2 symptom is anxiety. Maybe the DHEA is lowering my anxiety AND raising my E2. That would be something.

Weasel - You can relate. I'm not the only one this happened to.

So do you think a guy drops DHEA for say 2 weeks and see what happens? MY Progesterone levels tripled with this addition of DHEA/PREG as well. Maybe that is a factor as well.

TO many variables to say for sure at this point what is actually causing the lack of libido morning wood for me...

That can't hurt. I'd do it, but want to see how my DHEA blood values look first, from just 12.5mg.

My libido is still ok, just not what it was on T alone. But I'm more calm. Pick your poison right?

DHEA is estrogenic and can raise E2 if it's already at a higher level or one is taking a higher dosage.

I have no idea whatsoever how or why DHEA in the normal range would suppress morning erections...and I can't think of any either...never heard of this as a side effect.

My E2 was already high, but I didn't have symptoms. DHEA pushed it up higher and I lost my morning wood as well as my ability to keep an erection to finish. You've got to be careful with supplements.

The "p" is probably Pregnenolone.

Go to the supplement forum I have two stickies in there on both of these pro hormones.

I've been taking both for over 7 years now and have no side effects but the health benefit abound!

You're using the right form of DHEA, ultramicronized has the best profile for the body to use, pass through the liver is where problems arise and aromatization can take place. The UM should pass through though. But you could also be an outlier that any DHEA aromatizes or aggravates your E2.

DHEA typically causes me problems like this, too. However, I still take it. Cialis and Melanotan II to the rescue.

Covino - It's probably Pregnenolone, as Gene stated.

Steve - That might be what in dealing with. My most recent sensitive E2 was at 19 pg/ml with Lab Corp. I'm not experiencing any E2 symptoms. And I know E2 symptoms...worst part of TRT.

Gene - You've been on both DHEA and Pregnenolone. If a guy were to take only one, which would you suggest?

VC - I usually am the outlier. I'm the guy with low/normal SHBG who did fine with once a week injections.

Melatonin? DHEA keeps you awake? It knocks me right out. Like a damn sleeping pill.

I don't need Cialis yet. I get an erection when needed, just not first thing in the morning since taking DHEA.

Vince - Are you taking 50mg of DHEA? No morning wood issues?
I use Pregnenolone 10mg and DHEA 25mg. I take it with my other supplements, in the morning. I really don't feel much from it and it does not affect my morning wood.
