Best time to exercises is in the morning. Before breakfast the body has effectively run out of carbohydrates or sugars for fuel and it switches to burning fats instead. But if you want then you can do it any time in a day. Every time is best to do workouts.

I also like to exercise first thing in the morning, with an empty stomach.

I used to do that as well and my GP said that that would burn more muscle (fasted exercise)

It's probably different for everyone, but I do enjoy working out an empty stomach. :)

Lifting on an empty stomach isn't going to hurt your gains,
as long as you aren't eating two breakfasts' worth of food for lunch and generally eating healthy otherwise, says Melody L. Schoenfeld, a nutrition specialist and owner of the personal training company Flawless Fitness.

Schoenfeld,
who confesses to "almost always lifting in a fasted state" because of her schedule, says she hasn't seen any drop off. "If it works for you, keep doing what you're doing."
In terms of research, she points to a 2013 study
by theJournal of the International Society of Sports Nutrition on bodybuilders who were fasting for Ramadan and found that fasted training did not affect body mass or composition. And another study noted that heavy lifting in a fasted state seems to increase the muscle-building response to a post-training meal including carbs, protein, and leucine.
“These studies do provide some insight that fasted training is probably not going to hurt you and might actually have some benefit,” says Schoenfeld.

+1 for morning exercise. Added benefit, is that it energizes my day. On the flip side, if I work out in the afternoon, I frequently find I'm already dragging my feet and the last thing I want to do is workout. My afternoons are better used for gardening, household chores, or myriad other things that need my attention. Working out in the mornings, there are far fewer patrons competing to use some of the same equipment that I favor.

I teach in my wellness class that ANYTIME is good just get into a gym and exercise. Yea, I remember leaving for work at 5am and seeing a gym on the way. I could not imagine getting up that early and doing a work out. I am an afternoon guy 1-3. (the gyms are empty then too).

I agree with others that the best time to exercise is when you are full of energy. It's always different for me at different times of the year - in spring and summer I exercise in the morning before work, in autumn and winter in the evenings. Sometimes I feel very tired, but I still try to do something active - for example, I can play ping-pong with joola balls, ride a bike, go for a walk

I have a crazy schedule and gettin’ my 5 days in a week requires flexibility. I work out mornings, early afternoon and late evening every week depending on my work schedule. I find afternoon and evening works well for weight training with my best energy levels……I also enjoy cardio in the early mornings on my non lifting days.
